Naan

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
Never would've thought I could make naan at home. This recipe was great, although a little hard to make the first time around. The dough was very sticky and hard to manage, but it was easier as I tried more times and the taste is right on! I haven't been able to make it look pretty yet- it kind of looks like grilled chicken. I guess I need more practice! It goes great w/ the Chicken Tikka Masala from this site (omitting the salt.) Yum!

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
We love Indian food, and this is one of the dishes we go to the buffet for. We followed others advice and omitted the salt (I can't imagine what it would taste like w/ all that salt.) It tastes just like the restaurants!! I always double the sauce for dipping. I almost wish that it wasn't as good as it is b/c now that I know how much cream is in it, I don't want to make it. This recipe is delicous!! We did not find it spicy at all- I think it depends on what you're used to and how Americanized your local Indian restaurant makes it. We have had MUCH spicier versions than this one.

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
In my head, I always thought that Key Lime Pie would be hard to make, but it's totally not. I had this prepped and baked before my husband finished the bedtime routine w/ baby. I used the bottled Key Lime Juice, and found that my husband prefered 2/3 cup lime juice b/c it was less tart and you could eat more of the pie in one sitting. ;) I didn't bother w/ the lime zest, and it was great. Got lots of compliments and people think you took effort in making a homemade pie from scratch, when it takes close to no time to make. Fantastic!!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
This recipe is amazing!! I've made it several times and the cookies are great! The butter should be VERY soft and I did add 1 tsp of salt. I found when I chilled the dough before hand, the cookies spread a ton and were very buttery greasy. When I didn't chill the dough, the cookies were the perfect texture and thickness. Definitely experiment with different pudding flavors and chips. Our favorite is choclate pudding with peanut butter chips. AMAZING!!! Cheesecake pudding and white chocolate chips were pretty good too. Great recipe!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
My husband and I did not care for this mac & cheese. It tasted ok, but it did not compare to other recipes I have tried. The texture was not creamy, and the taste was not cheesey enough. Our friends, however, liked it alot and one said it was the best mac & cheese he's ever had. But then again, he's only had the box kind! It's worth a try, but if you like the cheesey, creamy mac & cheese you won't be satisfied w/ this recipe.

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2007
This was my first quiche and it turned out very good! I made it for my inlaws when they last came to visit, and they loved it. My husband, who didn't want me to make it because he didn't think he'd like it,loved it and wanted it for dinner the next day. I omitted the mushrooms, and used about half the cheese. Like others, I just used a shredded cheese blend (like cheddar jack.) The cooking time was a little longer than stated, but that could be my oven. I will definitely make this again!

Five Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2007
I didn't care for this recipe. It seemed like a lot of work for something that didn't taste that good. I would've been more content opening a can of baked beans and eating that. My husband enjoyed this dish more than I did, but he also didn't spend all the time preparing it. I won't make this again.

Sweet Potato Casserole VI

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2005
Loved the topping. Some might think it's too sweet, but my guests and I thought it was a nice change to the usual marshmallow topping. I would add more pecans next time. I forgot to add the milk, and it still tasted great. Will make again!

Sweet Potato Casserole II

Great, basic sweet potato recipe! Tasted very good and sweet. It didn't stand out from any other sweet potato cassserole I've had, but this won't let you down.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2005
This was great! The meat was practically falling off, and it tasted wonderful. We bought a plastic storage bin to put the turkey in our fridge for brining, and it worked out great. We're not sure if this will become our standard turkey recipe, but we will definitely try it again!

Broccoli Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2005
Tried this for Thanksgiving this year. I prepped it the night before and put it in the fridge until it was time to bake. It was nothing fancy, but it was good, solid, comfort food. It turned out great! Everyone liked it. I thought it looked a little too saucy when I mixed everything, so I added a little more cooked broccoli. I also used Ritz on top (put those on before I baked, not the night before.) Great recipe!

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2005
I tried this for Thanksgiving this year, and it was fantastic! My fiance (who doesn't like stuffing or fruit) liked it, and our guests asked for the recipe. It probably was the best stuffing I've ever had. I used Emeril's chicken and apple stuffing (which was great), almost 2 cups of stock since I wasn't stuffing the bird, and I substituted whole wheat bread cubes with corn bread cubes. I also omitted rosemary and liver. Perfect stuffing!

Restaurant-Quality Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2003
I've tried several baked potato soup recipes, but this is the best. Its names holds true- it tastes very much like the soup you can get in a restaurant (even better than some restaurants if you ask me.) It was very thick, rich, and delicious! I changed the recipe a bit and was able to cut the fat SIGNIFICANTLY. I used 2 cans no-fat, low sodium chicken broth, skim milk instead of half and half, 1/3 cup store-bought bacon bits (added at the same time as the potato flakes so they're not crunchy), and 1 package (1 cup) 4-cheese instant mashed potato flakes. By using cheese mashed potato flakes you don't need to use the cheddar cheese. It still tastes very cheesey (in fact, I would not use more than one cup of the flakes) and you don't add any fat. I estimated that by making these alterations you cut the total fat by at least 70 grams. Even with the alterations, it was fantastic. For those of you with cornstarch issues, I found that it was easier to chill the water and mix the cornstarch in the water before adding both. No lumps, no pasty-ness!
