Side better than main

Ok, so after my great plan and fun evening planning I really hate when the side turns out better than the main. I mean there wasn't anything wrong with the salmon, but I was slightly dissapointed with the final taste. I am sorry, but I really feel its just so much better off the grill. I cooked it in the oven. It was ok, but it lacked that great taste. The penne tossed in seasoned olive oil with fresh mozerella, sliced cherry tomatoes, and parm sprinkled on top was a great hit though. Well of to plan dinner. I wonder if anyone has ever felt like just serving a side for dinner because it was better than their main dish?

Any time we have salmon, we only prepare on the grill as I think that is the best way to eat it! Your side does sound delish, though and there are times when I can think of all sorts of sides to prepare, but no main dish sounds good to me.

Yup! No doubt that my sides have been better than the main on more than a few occasions. I have less than good luck preparing salmon. To me, it's much like poultry white meat- too easily dried out or not cooked enough.

About Me
I am a student, wife, daughter, evil-stepmom to a great girl, and avid dog person who loves to cook. I enjoy sports (coaching, playing, watching) and being outside.
My favorite things to cook
I love grilling. There is really nothing like the smell of food off the grill. It always gets the attention of people walking by. But I like cooking in the kitchen too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Wow, um...grilling, holidays, and basically my dad's love of deer.
My cooking triumphs
Managing my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Thanksgiving in another country with friends and every one liking the food.
My cooking tragedies
The very first time I ever cooked without help when I moved in with my husband and made spagehtti and kept it warm till he got home. Needless to say it is now my husband's favorite story to tell at every gathering with friends. :) It always keeps me grounded when things turn out great. lol!
