Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
This was great! I added sea salt and ground pepper, upped the feta to 1 cup, added a little more garlic, because we love garlic, and deleted the olives since we are not olive fans, but found this recipe to be wonderful! Addendum: Oh my, my...this tastes better the next day, cold! It still tastes great warmed up....but cold it is amazing!

Spicy Oven-Roasted Plums

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2007
WOW! These were so wonderful and couldn't have been any easier to make. I followed the recipe exactly, and WOW! I wasn't sure about the combination of spices, so I made a test batch, but WOW...I'll be using the rest of the plums to make this for a delicious dessert to bring to my neighbors party! WOW!

Grandma's Five Cup Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2007
My mother-in-law gave me this recipe with all the same ingredients, using 1 cup of each so it was truly "5 cup salad." However, the variation I use to make it lower fat and less calories, is replace the sour cream with dannon low-fat peach yogurt. Hubby thinks it tastes better with the yogurt.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2007
Yummy, yummy! This was soooo easy to make and eaten up quite quickly! Cinnamon-sugar mixture could be cut in half, and we left off the raisins and walnuts, as my kids don't like 'em. This recipe is a keeper!!

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2007
I changed up a few things, but with the end product using your basic recipe, my family enjoyed it! I sauteed onions and 2 cloves minced garlic while frying up the meat; used cooked brown rice, and added basil and parsley to all when combining everything. Like a previous reviewer, I steamed, rather than baking it for an hour, and it turned out yummy, husband and kids agreed!

Nanny's Goulash

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2007
This is a keeper. I made two versions, one for me, and one for the family. They don't like mushrooms, and I didn't want the beef...so one version was minus mushrooms, the other minus the beef. The only issue I had with it, was it was a little bland, so we added sea salt at the table. Next time I'll add the sea salt while cooking!

Pat's Mushroom Saute

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2007
It may have tasted even better with the butter, but I didn't add it for calorie sake...loved it without, though!

Creamy Peanut Towers

My kids loved this! Tried it as written, next time with the nutella...they liked it both ways, but my kids love chocolate, so with nutella was the #1 choice. I will be making again for kids parties! Thanks!

Slumgullion

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2007
I'm giving this 4 stars only because when I made it the first time, it was very bland. I thought it was a great base recipe, so I tried it again, this time adding garlic powder, minced onions and garlic pepper when browning the meat. I then added 4 oz feta cheese to the dish after adding the noodles, and then my family gobbled it all up!! I think the feta was the ticket!! Easy and quick meal, and I generally have all these ingredients on hand! Thanks!

Easy Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2007
This was both easy and yummy!! I made it exactly as the recipe was written, these are ingredients I always have on hand. Just for fun, I can't wait to try a variety of meats and veggies to put a little different spin on it. However it is GREAT as is!!!

Sweet Russian Cabbage Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2007
Wow! This was good the first night, and still yummy for leftovers. I only changed the meat, using stew beef instead of ground beef, leaving the other ingredients intact! We loved the sweetness...

Iowa Pork Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2007
This was soooo yummy!! My husband and kids don't like mushrooms, so I used a cream of potato soup I had on hand, and didn't add the 'shrooms. I also baked it longer until it was very tender, as 90 minutes wasn't tender enough for us....I can't wait to cook this for my parents who love mushrooms as much as I do. It was a 5 star recipe without the mushrooms...I'm sure it will be even better with them!!

JK's Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
This was similar to a strada recipe my great aunt gave me, and I thought is tasted great! The only thing I did differently was saute the onions after browning the sausage. My husband and kids loved this! Will definitely make again!

Double Chili Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2006
I have made this numerous times, because I get so many requests for it!! I never have any left. The only change I make (only because it's what I keep in the cupboard...) is that instead of beanless chili, I use chili with beans....

I really wanted to like these, since they were so easy, but the lemon flavor was too strong. Won't make again.

Pear Bread II

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2005
A friend gave me a bag full of pears, and I had never really cooked with pears before, but I had to do something, as she gave me so many! This recipe was awesome. I made it twice within 2 weeks, following the recipe exactly. The hubby and kids liked it better without the pecans, but I loved it both ways! This recipe is a keeper!

Russian Eggplant

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2005
My family did not like this recipe, although I thought it was ok. I even sauteed the onions like another reviewer suggested. I might have given it a 4, but since my family didn't like it, I feel I have to give this recipe a 3.
