Sour Cream and Chive Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2014
I've made many types of rolls before this, and I would say the taste of this one is pretty similar to the ones I like to make, which is why it got 4 stars. However, I do think it needs to be kneaded before being left to rise. I'm assuming that the recipe instructs you to put the dough in the fridge because it contains sour cream, but every recipe I've read says that cool temperatures make it harder for bread to rise. Mine didn't end up rising at all, even after being left overnight, and as a result, the rolls were very small and dense.

Pad Thai

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2014
Very good! I read a lot of reviews beforehand, and incorporated this advice: Doubling the sauce, Rice vinegar instead of white wine, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 2 tbsp lime juice,3 cloves of garlic. I found that although many reviewers said 4 eggs were too much, it was just right for us.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2013
Delicious and picture-perfect. My only complaint is that these were supposed to be sweet dinner rolls, and I was expecting something like the hawaiian rolls. I actually couldn't taste the sugar at all and it tasted just like a normal (but beautiful and spectacularly home-made) dinner roll. I would definitely make it again, although next time I might try making three 8-inch rounds instead of two 12-inch rounds because I felt the rolls were rather huge.

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2013
Delicious. As great as all the reviews led me to believe. The only change I made was that I added 1/2 tsp of salt.

Taco Soup II

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2013
I tried the recipe with all of the same seasonings, but left out the hominy and replaced the lima beans with pinto. I thought it tasted good, but I didn't notice a big difference from chili recipes.

Nacho Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2012
Super fast and easy to make. Doesn't taste exactly like the original, but pretty darn close! I like mixing the cheese with salsa and dipping the chips into it :)

Fudgy Chocolate Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
This was my first cream pie! Everyone approved. It wasn't too sweet for me at all, and I would definitely make it again. I only made a few changes. I replaced the unsweetened chocolate with 3 tbsp of cocoa powder and 1 tbsp of butter. Melt the butter and then mix in the cocoa powder to avoid lumps. I made a meringue topping by whisking 3 egg whites until foamy, then adding 6 tbsp of sugar. I continued beating until stiff peaks formed and then added 1/2 tsp vanilla. Lastly, I baked at 325 degrees for 15 minutes. Turned out great!

Apple Raisin French Toast Strata

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
Maybe its personal taste, but I didn't care for it at all. I don't like the soggy bread texture and like others said, it didn't end up having any flavor. The apples were the only good part. This is the first time for me that a high rated recipe on allrecipes.com didn't turn out delicious. What a disappointment :(

Ricotta Gnocchi

Reviewed: May 22, 2012
This is the second time I've made gnocchi. I made some minor adaptations but for the most part, I followed the recipe exactly. I would say this recipe is good, but not anything particularly great or special. Everyone liked it, but they didn't love it. As many other people have said, the sauce doesn't have very much flavor... we couldn't even taste the garlic.

Shredded Beef Chimichangas

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2012
I found this recipe to be very tasty! I had never had chimichangas before, so I'm not sure how this compares to the restaurant version. I followed what someone else said and added an onion and 3 garlic cloves to the seasoning, and I cooked it in the crock pot for about 5 hours, shredded it, then cooked it for another 45 minutes. I also substituted chicken broth for the beef broth, since that's what I had, and I added more salt. Final verdict: I would make this again :)

Pesto Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2012
I made this yesterday and I found that it was not all that flavorful. Like other commentators have said, we added more pesto, and we also added a few garlic cloves. However, the finished result, while appetizing in appearance, was a bit bland. When we sprinkled some garlic salt on top, however, it definitely improved it. I'll probably make this again, but next time with more garlic, more basil, and garlic salt instead of regular salt.

Calzone

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2012
I gave this four stars because while it was delicious, there are parts of the directions that could be improved. For example, when we made the calzones, we wanted individual sizes so that we could each choose our own stuffing. It says that the recipe makes four, but those are HUGE calzones. Also, it didn't say what thickness of dough to roll out, and our calzones ended up with crust that was too thick (when you took a bite, it was mostly bread) and didn't have enough cheese (we'll be adding more next time). Also, be warned. If you make the individual calzones and don't seal the edges tightly enough, the stuffing might start to seep out while baking. Overall though, this made a yummy dinner! We'll definitely be making it again.
