Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2012
I made this exactly as written and the flavor was great, i liked the crust but it took so much longer to cook. I did 50 minutes at 350 then upped the temp to 400 for another 20 minutes, then it came out crispbut not too crisp. The apples broke down quite a bit at such a long cooking time so there wasnt as much filling as i would have liked.

Hamburger Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2012
I didnt use tomato soup, i used cream of mushroom instead and added a squeeze of ketchup and a dash of worsteshire, and saute onion, garlic with the beef. Sometimes i add a small can of corn to the mix just depending on what i have on hand.So i altered it quite a bit to suit my families tastes but the base recipe was great inspiration. Its a great cheap filling meal that everyone in my family has seconds of.

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2012
Good base recipe, i had never made my own sauce before and this was a good intro to that. I would definetely recommend aking the sauce in the same pan as the sauteed veggies to get the flavor richness.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2012
i used a 5 1/4 lb chicken and stuffed it with butter, celery and onion. I put celery, onion, and potatoes with butter around the chicken and cooked it for 2 1/2 hours. Next time I'll add the veggies later. The chicken itself was super juicy and tender. My uber picky 10 year old even said wow you can really cook a chicken mom!

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
I used 1 1/2 lbs of sirlion and it was super tender. I used yellow onion and some leek just out of preference, and added a splash of worsteshire and omitted the white wine since i didnt have any. I dissolved 2 tablespoons of flour and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch in a 14 oz can of beef broth instead of all flour. Turned out good.also used 8 oz fresh mushrooms instead of canned.

Chili Mac Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2012
I used rotel diced tomatoes with green chilis since i was making it for the kiddos and thought a separate can of green chilis would be too spicy for them, turned out to be a nice amount of spice. If i make it again i would add more tomato paste or possibly use velveeta nacho/mexican cheese as i thought it was a little dry-not enough binder. Good base just needs some tweaking to personal taste.
