About this Cook
I enjoy cooking but am an extreme novice… I grew up down in good ‘ole New Orleans and so spicy, flavor rich food is for me. Anything bland is a disappointment and I seem to have rubbed that off on my hubby!! I like to try new recipes that aren’t too expensive to make. I just hate to buy $20 worth of ingredients and then its just terrible and I feel the need to order pizza instead – that gets pretty pricey!!
My favorite things to cook
I love pasta dishes and crock pot recipes. Hubby is more of a meat and potates man (aren't they all?)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My sister always makes chocolate pudding pies for Thanksgiving and mom always makes sweet potato pie.... yum-a-lious!!

Hey I figured out how to turn on the convection oven!!

Man-o-man... hubby bought me a convection oven and I have messed up all sorts of things -- but I'm learning how to use it!!!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
This was very easy and good. I added about 1 cup frozen mixed veggies (last hour of cooking) about 1t dried dill weed as well as 1T garlic pepper and it had a wonderful flavor. I only used 1 can of biscuits and seemed to have plenty of dumplings. I'll be sure to use this on in the upcoming cold winters here in St. Louis!

Wisconsin Bratwurst
This was "ok". I guess I felt I could accomplish a 'deeper' flavor by poking these and just covering them in Jack Daniels Marinade overnight... though the onions had a good flavor -- sorry but hubby asked me not to make brats like this again...

Restaurant-Style Potato Skins
How come things so great like this are ohhhh so bad. Very yummy & perfect for football Sundays because they are easy to reheat or much at room temp according to the guys... Thanks!
