Potato Soup V

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2007
Good flavor. I sauteed the celery and onion first in 2 tbsps of the butter and I used 1 cup of shredded cheddar instead of 1 cup of half and half. I didn't think it needed any more cream and I like cheddar cheese in potato soup.

Sun's Korean Marinating Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2007
The flavor of this is fantastic! I cooked the remaining marinade to use as a sauce when the fish came off the grill. I was amazed that the amount of sugar used did not make the sauce overly sweet at all. Outstanding!

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
The celery seed gives this an interesting flavor. This was very simple to prepare and tasted good. It didn't take 30 minutes to finish cooking the chicken so I suggest to keep an eye on it so it doesn't dry out.

Crab-Stuffed Filet Mignon with Whiskey Peppercorn Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
This is delicious. We will save this one though for special dinners as it is also expensive. My family loved the sauce so much they poured it over everything on their plate. This does take quite a bit of time to prepare, but definitely worth the time and effort

Spinach and Leek White Bean Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
Very simple soup, and family liked it. My son wasn't too crazy about the taste of the cumin although the rest of us liked it. I'm going to try this again but with some other seasoning blend to see if he likes it any better.

Boudreaux's Zydeco Stomp Gumbo

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
My family loved this, however it was a bit too spicey for me, but I still enjoyed the flavors. I used 2 quarts of chicken broth as recommended by other reviewers and I think the amount was just right. And I added some okra.

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
Definitely more simple than traditional cabbage rolls. Even though this was good as written, I think it could use more meat. I will make that change the next time I make this.

Grilled Cheese of the Gods

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2007
My family loved these! I had to use ham in place of the bacon though, however, we like bacon so I will make sure I have it the next time I make these. The cheese on the outside is awesome. Thanks!

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2007
OMG this is great! I want to try this again using apples or peaches. I cut the recipe in half with great results. This is my new favorite crisp/crumble recipe.

Squirrel's Great Beef Steak

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
This is a great marinade for a change. I typically don't like barbeque sauce with steaks, but the flavor was not overpowering at all. It added a subtle sweet/tangy flavor. We all enjoyed it!

Out of this World Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
I halved the recipe and prepared with 2 chickens. One we put on the smoker the other we put in the oven. The chicken was so moist and delicious both ways. I've never brined anything before, but now I am eager to try some other brine recipes on this site. Thanks!

Carolina Pork Twirl

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
My family loved these. I always have problems using toothpicks, they break, so I threaded 5 or 6 on metal skewers and pulled them off before serving. Also, I like using Cavender's Greek Seasoning on pork. I sprinkled the tenderloin strips with Cavender's before rolling them up. No need for additional salt and pepper and the flavor is great!

These are quick, easy and taste great. I sprinkled powdered sugar over the tops when they cooled.

Garlic Butter

Reviewed: May 12, 2007
This is fantastic for garlic bread. I scaled the whole recipe down by 1/2 and based on other reviewers comments about the saltiness I only used 1/2 tsp. of garlic salt. Spread it on a split baguette and broil for about 2 minutes. Delicious!!!

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: May 4, 2007
Excellent flavor combination and easy preparation. In my past shish kabob attempts I never thought to wrap bacon around the chicken pieces, but it added flavor to the chicken and kept it moist. What a great idea!

Chicken In Basil Cream

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2007
This was very good, very quick, and very easy. The recipe didn't call for it, but I always pound chicken breast to an even thickness. It cooks more evenly and has a more delicate texture. I had to use dried basil (1 tbsp.) and I added about 1/4 cup white wine with the chicken broth, cause I like that too! Delicious weeknight meal.

Prairie Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2007
Finally found a meatloaf recipe my son likes. I prefer a little BBQ sauce or ketchup on top so I will make that addition the next time. Also I sauteed the onion and celery, again personal preference.

Cashew Raisin Rice Pilaf

This was different. I felt so healthy eating it! It tasted pretty good, but it wasn't something that we would want again.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2007
I'm giving this 5 stars even though it didn't turn out right, and it had nothing to do with the recipe. The taste is awesome! I don't typically use almond extract in any of my baking, because I find it overpowering. However, it works perfectly for this cake. First problem, don't use a bundt pan it's not big enough for this. Don't know what I was thinkin'. The other problem has to do with ingredients. I'm living in France and have not been able to produce a decent pie, cake or any type of baked dessert. And I'm using recipes that I've been using for years. Sooo, the only thing I can think of is the makeup of the ingredients must be different than what is available in the states. I am going to try this one again though when I return. Hopefully with better results.
