Lots of Chocolate Cherry Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2013
The batter itself is dangerous. Next time I'll use dark cocoa powder, and the instant coffee granules (didn't have any on hand), for a deeper chocolate color. Fabulous cookies.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
Instead of squares, I used this exact recipe as a warm lemon tart. Simple and delicious - my definition of elegance in a dessert. I recommend using juice of at least three lemons as other reviewers suggested. I used a round tart dish and garnished with a couple sprigs of lemon verbena (didn't have mint on hand) - next time I'll make a raspberry coulis to drizzle across the top.

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
Added 50% more blueberries and it was amazing hot with vanilla ice cream - especially the crust! I thawed frozen blueberries in a collander in the sink for thirty minutes so that their water wouldn't muddy the batter. Easy and excellent!

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
Used soy crumbles instead and added fresh spinach for a healthier main dish - worked out well. Dinner guests enjoyed it and said it was hardy enough for a post-snowshoeing afternoon. Enjoy with a rich rioja and shaved parmesan & parsely garnish.

My sweetie gives it 5 stars! Use peanut oil and almond meal instead of olive oil and flour. Rocks!

Easy Arugula Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
Great salad. I used a grated romano/asiago/parmesan blend and sesame seeds instead of pine nuts, but reduced the amount of seeds to 1/8 cup.

French Apple Tart (Tarte de Pommes a la Normande)

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
Made it for dinner guests - they gave it big compliments. I left it in the oven an extra 20 minutes to brown the crust and apples.

Mrs. Sigg's Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2010
Worked out great with a fresh, unopened sugar pumpkin (one 5 lb pumpkin makes 2 pies). A bit more pumpkin pie spice could work - depends on your taste. I would smooth the ingredients with a blender, unless you prefer a stringy/hearty consistency.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2010
My loved one loves this - though admittedly it's almost too dessert-like. Next time I'll double the amount of sweet potato to topping so that it's savory enough. Great recipe.
