Becca's Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
Made this recipe tonight and added the entire packet of taco seasoning. Other than that, prepared as directed. We loved it! Will definitely make again. Only took us 15 minutes to make. Quick, yummy dinner. Could easily be a slow cooker meal.

Linda's Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
I did change this recipe slightly to accommodate for my husband's tastes. He likes a lasagna with MEAT :)! I used 1 pound of ground beef and 1 pound of turkey sausage. I browned them in two different pans in order to really brown the meat and not just cook it. I added the onion and some minced garlic to the sausage and cooked it til soft. When I made the sauce, I upped the crushed tomatoes to 29 oz. and only used one cup of water. I did as another reviewer suggested and pureed the cottage cheese, egg, and parmesan cheese in the blender. I added a little fresh parsley to that and refrigerated until layering the lasagna. The "cheeses" firmed up nicely. Followed the recipe for layering but added about 1/2 cup parmigiana reggiano cheese to the top. Made this in two square pans, and froze one before baking. Husband declared this his new favorite. I used to make Ina Garten's recipe, but this is one is really that good! (and cheaper to make)

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
Everyone loved this slaw! It was a little on the sweet side but not too noticeable. The celery seed is a must! Whole family with 13 people enjoyed this slaw with ribs. Yum!

Pizza Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
For what this is - a budget friendly hamburger dish - it really delivers! I noted the reviews that said this was bland, so I used dried minced onion instead of the regular onion, added minced garlic, italian seasoning, and chopped stick pepperoni to the hamburger mixture. Also seasoned the pasta water with a handful of salt. Added a pizza blend of mozzarella, provolone and asiago cheese. Served with some frozen breadsticks and hubby loved it.

Unbelievable Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
I would have to agree that these were pretty unbelievable! My husband loves Sister Schubert's frozen rolls on Sunday's. I made the rolls very small and put them in 8" cake pans so that the rolls were touching. They were soft and delicious. I also froze half of the rolls for later and those turned out great too! They even heated back up in the oven 3 days later and still tasted great. Better than any other recipe I have made for this type of roll!!

Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
These cookies were just the thing for a chocolate fix. The dough was great even raw! I had one that was completely dipped in chocolate and it was too sweet for me. I dipped 1/2 all the way (tops and bottoms) and 1/2 I dipped only over the tops. The cherry bits on top (from another review) were very pretty. Not that hard or time consuming. Loved them!

Irresistible Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
Made two pies for Thanksgiving. Last year my pie was a flop. This year was super. The pancake syrup adds something different so be sure to use it. I only used the crushed and whole pecans. I also added good quality vanilla and used a maple praline syrup. I used Ina Garten's piecrust recipe.

Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
I used a pizza crust from publix, used homemade blue cheese dressing (recipe from Ina Garten). The homemade blue chesse is thick and works well on this recipe. We picked up a rotisserie chicken and tossed the shredded chicken in the hot sauce. I completely forgot to prebake the crust and because the dressing was so thick it turned out great! Better than the recipe I had tried to improvise last year.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
This recipe was just as good as the original casserole. I wondered how it would taste with cheese on green beans but it was really yummy!

Breaded Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
I did not use the garlic powder since I had made roasted potatoes with garlic. I used chicken cutlets and only marinated for 30 minutes. This was a super tasty breading and it stuck on! Everyone loved the chicken - no leftovers! Will definitely use this recipe again.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
These were terrific. Worth the little bit of effort. Doubled the recipe. 3 c. flour, 3/4 teasp salt, 2 Tablespoons baking powder, 2 1/2 cup warm milk, 2 eggs, almost one stick of melted butter, vanilla. Let sit 10 minutes before cooking. This allows the baking powder to activate and they will puff up better. Yum!

Fresh Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2007
Very very good. I also did not add the water to the topping mixture. 1 1/2 times the topping would be perfect for me. Yumm

Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
These were very good! With or without the chocolate chips. I used a small amount of oil to grease the skillet and it made the pancakes nice and brown. Lovely!

Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2003
While this was not the best hot chocolate I have ever had, it had a pleasant flavor. I used the vanilla creamer as suggested and it will be absolutely fine for gifts. Will use this recipe again. My daughter loved mixing it up.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2003
This is very similar to the apple crisp recipe I usually use and could not locate today. Has that great oatmeal topping. Two people stopped by and had to have some while they were here! I made a 8x8 pan because it is best fresh in my opinion.

Monkey Bread V

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2003
I have had monkey bread before but misplaced my recipe. I used brown sugar instead of white and butter instead of margarine. My husband LOVED it! Will definately make this one again. Maybe for Christmas as others have suggested.

Cajun Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2003
This recipe is so easy and tastes great! My husband is normally a "burger guy". He said this was so good he always wants to have his chicken fixed this way. By the way the cajun seasoning does not make it "hot". My 4 year old can eat this also. Great recipe!
