Awesome Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
This had promise, but there was not nearly enough dressing. Came out kind of flavorless. If I made it again, I would use a full 16 oz of dressing.

Peanut Butter Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
We substituted trans-free margarine for shortening and halved the sugar. More like muffins, but still excellent, especially with Rich Chocolate Frosting from this site!

Hungarian Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
I usually add some flank steak and potatoes to this soup. I cook the steak and then add about a cup of water and let it simmer to make a quick broth. My Russian husband loves this authentic gribovnitsa with a huge dollop of sour cream!

Best Ever Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
A little gooey ... I needed more popcorn to use all the sugar mixture.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2007
This was very yummy cornbread, if you like it sweeter and fluffier. The only problem we had one time was that we got busy and didn't get a chance to eat it all within a couple of days, and it soured on the counter, I guess because of the milk. If you won't be eating it within a short time, put it in the fridge!

This wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Kind of bland.

Absolute Best Liver and Onions

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2006
This was good, but I like liver. My husband doesn't, so I soaked his in the milk, but neither one of us could taste a difference in the soaked or unsoaked.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2006
This is a nice dark cake, just like I like them! I used coffee instead of water and half butter, half Promise spread. I will try only Promise spread next time. I also only used about 2/3 of the sugar. Mine was a little dry, but I think I left it in the oven a tad too long while I was distracted with something else. I will definitely make this again.

Tuna Curry in a Hurry

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2006
This was a nice mild curry, definitely not good for someone who prefers a little spicier curry. I added lots of extra veggies (cabbage, tomoato, eggplant, carrot, parsnip), so I needed more curry. I also used plain yogurt instead of sour cream and thought it tasted fine.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2006
Very good, very soft cookies that are way too easy to gobble down with coffee before you realize how many you've had. I used only whole wheat flour, half the sugar, and walnuts instead of pecans. Yum!

Cherry Pie IV

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2006
This was a very good recipe, just the right texture for the filling. It was a little too sweet for my tastes, but that is something that varies widely among different people. I would only suggest tasting the mixture as you are adding the sugar if you prefer more a more tart cherry pie.

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2006
This recipe is great. I would like to try putting the dough in the freezer overnight, then cooking in the morning. I am just not sure when to freeze it ... maybe after the second rising.

Emily's Famous Apple Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2006
I would have liked the filling of this pie to be a little more juicy. I added nutmeg and allspice to the spices and used Best Ever Pie Crust from this site, and it came out pretty good.

Chocolate Pecan Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2006
I made this pie for my husband, who had never had pecan pie (from a different country), and he decided he didn't like pecan pie after that! This recipe was way too sweet. I made a regular pecan pie later, and my husband liked it. If I make this again, I will reduce the amount of sugar and/or corn syrup and use dark chocolate or baking chocolate.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2006
I use this recipe every time I make a pie, and it turns out perfect every time. The trick is to only mix the dough until it is just forming together - you should still see chunks of shortening. I chill mine for at least four hours in plastic wrap, then I roll it out cold. If you let it get warm before or while you are rolling it out, the shortening will start to assiilate into the dough, and your crust will be tough instead of flaky.

Grandma's Noodles II

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2006
I use this recipe every time I make chicken soup. They are very good, just be sure the soup is boiling or nearly there before you drop them in. They were just the right consistency, and remind me of the noodles my grandma used to make.

I brought this to a camp out with several friends, and it was a hit! I used high quality real cheese instead of processed cheese, and it was very good.

I am not sure what all the fuss is about with this recipe. It was just kind of blah - chicken with lemon. I have had better.

Delicious! My family ate this at every meal for two days, and then AS the meal the next evening, with fresh veggies. Will make again.
