About this Cook
I am happily married with a wonderful husband and two grown children of my own and two grown step children with five step grandchildren. I enjoy quilting, scrapbooking, attending church, having a garden, and love the sunshine but most of all spending time with God, my family and friends.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking over cooking. My favorite things to bake are sweets, lol of course. Homemade breads, cookies and cakes. Some of my other favorites are chicken enchilada casserole, chicken burritos, beef and cheese burritos and chicken stir fry.
My favorite family cooking traditions
At Christmas time having my kids home and my daughter and i baking all kinds of Christmas cookies. Probably my all time favorite! Which was probably passed down to me from when I was young my Mother would bake tons of breads and cookies and desserts at Christmas time and let us girls help her out. Which i can guess was not really much help but more just about time together and learning. Then she would package up the goodies and give them to family and friends. She would always say, its not much but hope you enjoy it. And i would think of all the hours and days she spent baking them, the love that was poured into making those gift baskets was more than you could ever get from the store. My Mom is so wonderful and has no idea of what a loving, caring and terrific lady she truly is. And if it weren't for mom, i wouldn't be able to cook the way i can today. So Mom when you say you don't know where i get my talent from, it really is you. Thank You Mom for everything.
My cooking tragedies
ONE time making my strawberry pretzel salad for my daughters graduation open house, the strawberries with the jello never set-up so we had strawberry pretzel soup instead. Sweetest soup i ever had, lol And when i was a child, my Mom was in the hospital and my Grandma was staying with us to help out. I was helping or so i thought my Grandma to make dinner (or as they say in the south supper, the last meal of the day) and i was peeling the cucumber for the toss salads, and my Dad through a fit, was mad and yelling because i was taking to much of the peel off and was wasting the cucumber. I was so upset and hurt by this, that still today, i usually leave the peel on the cucumbers. Thanks Dad, lesson learned.

Strawberry Pretzel Salad
This is one of our families favorite desserts, make it for get togethers. Always go home with an empty pan.
