About this Cook
I am 62yrs. old. I met my husband in the 2nd grade. We've been married for 43 yrs. We have a grown daughter and two grandsons (age 11 and 14). I used to cook more than I do now. It's hard to cook for two. I make a lot of soups and I have a reputation for having good soup recipes. I play golf and I spend a lot of time on my computer. I've taken a lot of computer classes and I know more than the average person about computers but not nearly as much as I would like to know. My husband and I enjoy trying new restaurants. We live in the Atlanta "burbs" and there are many restaurants to try. I am a member of several restaurant review sites which I enjoy a lot. I love All Recipes. It's my favorite recipe website and I am a member of many. I have tried many, many recipes but I have never reviewed one. I suppose I should start.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make deserts but I usually only make one when we are having company or going to a potluck. I'm somewhat of a Carb Queen so I make a lot of dishes which include pasta, potatoes or rice. I suppose if I had to choose my favorite thing to make, it would be a pot of soup.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother was Bohemian. I was raised on Bohemian dishes which are very similar to German cooking. I did not know the English name for the dish. My mom always made bread (which I love to smell) and we always had a desert with our evening meal. She liked to make Strudel a lot but she could also make a fabulous cream pie with meringue so tall. She made potaote pancakes that were out of this world. I have tried to duplicate the recipe and I'm getting close but they still don't taste as good as hers. She made them from uncooked potatoes which she grated and put thru a cheesecloth, then added seasonings, egg and flour.
My cooking triumphs
I've started baking Prime Rib for Holidays and everyone loves them. I was nervous about it at first. I have baked either a Turkey or Ham previously for many, many years. I also bake a fabulous Cheesecake.
My cooking tragedies
I had 6 couples over for dinner several years ago. It was a disaster. I baked a beef tenderloin, exactly as the recipe called for, but it was a bloody mess. It was still cold in the center. I was mortified. I'm a better cook than that. I haven't baked one since.

Seafood Pasta Salad
This is so.o.o.o good. I thought there was plenty of dressing but I was prepared to double after reading the other reviews. I omitted the celery (I didn't have any on hand), I added pimento stuffed olives (1 cup) and cherry tomatoes. I also added lemon/pepper seasoning and onion flakes (about 2 tablespoons of each). This is definitely a keeper!
