Baked Whole Cauliflower

Yummy! Followed the recipe to the letter, but used the hint about brushing melted butter all over before pressing on breadcrumb mixture. Delightful and different.

Oh-So-Good Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
We really liked this recipe. I did add a bit of chopped jalapeno and some cumin, and topped it with the crushed tortilla chips which other reviewers recommended, but otherwise followed the recipe pretty closely. It was a nice and easy, stick to your ribs supper. Everyone liked it, and I'll definitely make it again.

New England Bean Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
Great, Great, Great. Everyone loved this dip. I added about a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese to it, as that's how I've had it in our local restaurant. Thanks so much for this easy, delicious recipe.

Dog Food Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2008
Excellent and easy recipe. I made this for a Halloween party, and everyone enjoyed it. I used about 2 tablespoons of finely chopped jalapenos and served with Fritos Scoops as suggested. And yes, it really does look like dog food--how fun!

Chicken Wild Rice Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
What a wonderful soup this is! I followed others' suggestions and added more curry and mustard powder. I also added a couple of shakes of red pepper flakes. I had used homemade broth and had to add a boullion cube to the finished product, but this is delicious, hearty soup. Thanks for the post

Egg Foo Yung II

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
This was really good. I followed the recipe closely, except I used beef "Better Than Boullion" in the sauce instead of chicken boullion cubes, and for meat I used only chopped up leftover roast pork. And I also added about a 1/2 tsp of ground ginger to the sauce. The sauce did come out salty, but this was my fault, as I may have been a little heavy handed with the beef base. The egg patties, however, were great--restaurant quality. I'll take the advice of another reviewer and use the tuna can idea to shape the patties next time, as they were a bit of a challenge to keep together. I think that hint will do the trick. Once I lighten up on the beef base, this will be perfect. Great recipe--try it!

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
We liked this fairly well, although no one was clammoring for seconds. The sauce made a nice, flavorful gravy after I thickened it with some flour, and it required no additional seasoning. The meat was very tender, and the recipe was quite easy and convenient.***I'm changing my rating from 4 to 5 stars after making this a second time. I only did a couple of things differently, but this time it was delicious. I had no onion, so I placed the roast on a bed of sliced apples instead. Also, I pierced the roast before pouring on the sauce. I don't know why it was so much better, but it was.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2008
Very nice--I followed others' advice and added about 1/2 cup of white wine and a couple of cloves of crushed garlic at the start. I also added a couple of dollops of sour cream and a can of mushrooms. I think it definitely could have used more mushrooms, so I'll add more next time. The chicken was quite tender, and there was plenty of sauce. I will make this again. Thanks

Steak Tip Marinade

The family results are in, and this is the new marinade I'll be using from now on. Even my daughter, who hates steak, gave it a try and enjoyed it! I served the tips with caramelized onions and garlic/lemon sauteed mushrooms on the side. A real keeper~~thanks!

Strawberry Dream Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
Yes, it was dense; yes, the icing was drippy if it wasn't refrigerated; but the fact remains that this cake is dense and delicious. If you're aware of the above two issues going in, and you're not expecting a light and airy layer cake, then you're in for a treat. One of my kids likened it to a muffin texture--and it was wonderful. I followed the recipe using the suggestion of strawberry cream cheese, and I also used only egg white, as opposed to the whole eggs. I made the icing the day before and kept it in the fridge over night, frosted the cake the next day and then kept it in the refrigerator. It was lovely--lots of rave reviews. Thanks for the post.

Pork Tenderloin with Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2008
We really liked this recipe. Easy and flavorful, and the meat was quite tender. I didn't have any chives (fresh or othewise)for the side sauce, so I threw in about 1/2 tsp of dill weed. Not bad. As other reviewers have said, it did tast a lot like horseradish. This is a recipe I'll use many times. Thanks for the post.

Antipasto Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2008
A great appetizer. I only use one egg, pouring about 2/3 of it over the meat/cheese/pepper layers and the other 1/3 to brush on the top crescent layer. I don't see the need for more egg. It holds together nicely without the extra, and I think using only one egg is the remedy for the soggy bottom. This recipe's a keeper.

Really good side dish recipe. I added some chopped carrots, and I used canned, drained, diced tomatoes. I also threw in some chopped chicken breast I had left over from the night before. Very tasty. Everyone liked it.

My Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
Very nice. I added a few things, though, which I don't usually do the first time I try a recipe (especially if I'm planning on reviewing), but I'll mention the changes anyway. First, I sliced the chicken into stir-fry type strips and cooked that in the oil and garlic with a couple of splashes of white wine and lemon juice. The smaller chicken pieces cut the cooking time considerably. Also, I added a can of drained mushrooms with the beans. We loved the meal.Thanks.

Indiana-Style Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2007
Loved this recipe! I must admit, however, that I did not use bacon grease--couldn't do it. I just used a little extra butter with the cooked bacon. I also used fresh mushrooms with about 1/3 cup water. This was a wonderful way to serve lots of different vegetables. A big hit with the boys.
