Grilled Pork Chops with Fresh Nectarine Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2009
Very nice~~refreshing for a hot summer night's dinner. I had to use a pinch or two of sugar, though, as the nectarines were not as sweet as they should have been. I'll use this recipe again.

Corn and Avocado Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
This was tasty, although I had to make some changes out of necessity: my avocado was unusable, so that was out; instead I used a peeled and seeded chopped tomato, and I used roasted red pepper and then a green bell pepper. It tasted pretty good, although I would have loved to taste the avocado. Next time....

Fried Onion Rings

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
Really, really, really good! I used O'Doul's non alcohol beer, and I did add paprika and seasoning salt to the batter, per the suggestions of many. I can see how some kind of seasoning was necessary. But with the added seasoning, they were absolutely delicious--light and crispy. I'd love to try this batter on chicken fingers, and probably will. Thanks for a wonderful recipe.

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
This was a deliciously different salad. I followed the recipe exactly, and didn't feel that there was too much dressing....I made it for our July 4th barbecue, and those who tried it really liked it. The other beanphobics didn't know what they were missing! The next day we ate it as a dip for tortilla chips, and it was even better!

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
Every ham I've ever baked in the oven has dried out. This method was so much better--the meat was juicy and flavorful! I added a can of pineapple chunks--next time I'll drain off the juice, as the extra liquid was unnecessary. I might sprinkle some ground cloves in with the brown sugar next time....Very good method. Thanks!

Michelle's Coconut Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2009
This was pretty good~~but there was just something missing. We have chicken curry at a local Thai restaurant, and the sauce is heavenly~~this sauce lacked the heavenly factor, but was still very good. I chopped up a red bell pepper and used mushrooms and some peas and carrots, as I had no cauliflower. Since I was searching for that sweetness of our restaurant dish, I added some pineapple chunks after everyone had tasted it, and that actually improved the recipe considerably. I served this with jasmine rice. Everyone liked it very much, but agreed that there was just something missing....I will make this again, though.

Spaghetti Salad II

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2009
This certainly had a great combination of ingredients. It was nicely seasoned, light, and refreshing. I liked it a lot--better than other pasta salads I've made. The boys just thought it was okay, though, so I'm not sure how often I'll make it...but I'm glad I tried it.

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
I REALLY wanted to love this recipe, and I was so excited to make it~~what a disappointment. Frankly, I'm mystified by all the rave reviews. I followed the marinade recipe to the letter and used some of the method tips from other reviewers: doubled the marinade; marinated chicken and mushrooms separately and overnight to insure flavorful chicken (or so I'd hoped); used regular bacon for balanced barbecuing; cooked on medium heat to avoid dryness. My result~~delicious mushrooms, but the chicken, while tender, was totally devoid of flavor. Even the bacon flavor was missing. If I use this again (and at this point, that's a big "if"), I'll definitely follow the advice of others and add garlic and possibly ginger to the marinade. Also, the recipe cries out for fresh pineapple; the canned pineapple chunks ended up shriveled and puny and were practically an unnoticeable addition. Unfortunately, my guests and I found this recipe rather forgettable.

French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2009
A wonderful, quick, delicious recipe. Followed a few reviewer suggestions: added an extra slice of bread, baked in a slightly larger (9x9)pan, increased baking time to 60 minutes. It came out perfectly. Here's one I'll use lots of times. Thanks for the post.

Ginger Veggie Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
This was pretty good! I did add a couple of pinches of Splenda to give it a bit more flavor, and I did not add the salt, as I felt the Soy Sauce made it salty enough. I threw in some thinly sliced celery and fresh mushrooms. I'll use this again.

Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
Everyone loved this easy-to-make, gooey treat. I followed the recipe very closely, minus the raisins, but found I had to bake it about 10 minutes longer than stated. Very, very good--lots of compliments. Thanks for the post.

Tender Italian Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
Loved this tender, moist baked chicken. I did make a couple of changes, but did not stray from the recipe too much-plain panko breadcrumbs, and because I used plain breadcrumbs, I seasoned the mayonnaise with some Italian seasoning. The chicken took several more minutes to cook than the recipe stated, but it was really good.

Slow Cooker Pineapple Pork Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
A wonderful recipe. I pretty much followed it closely, except that I had no seasoned salt, so I used plain salt, garlic powder, and crushed rosemary. When I got home from work, I sliced the perfectly cooked pork and let it cook a bit more in the sauce (which I had thickened with a bit of cornstarch)while I made rice and a salad. Very, very good.

Sweet and Sour Chicken III

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
Excellent, easy recipe. I sliced the chicken into thin strips instead of cubes, and that cut down on the cooking time, plus it made for extra tender chicken. I also added a couple of shakes of red pepper flakes. This doesn't make a lot, so be sure to double the recipe, as it's delicious.

Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
This was good, but I thought the almond extract flavor was too pronounced; next time I'll omit it. Served with Cheese Blintzes recipe from this site.

Gingerbread Boys

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
We had fun with these Gingerbread Boys! We personalized all the cookies when we decorated them and became attached to them, which made us hesitant to eat them. But, as you can guess, we overcame that obstacle rather quickly--they were delicious, may they rest in peace.

Baked Whole Cauliflower

Yummy! Followed the recipe to the letter, but used the hint about brushing melted butter all over before pressing on breadcrumb mixture. Delightful and different.

Oh-So-Good Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
We really liked this recipe. I did add a bit of chopped jalapeno and some cumin, and topped it with the crushed tortilla chips which other reviewers recommended, but otherwise followed the recipe pretty closely. It was a nice and easy, stick to your ribs supper. Everyone liked it, and I'll definitely make it again.

New England Bean Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2008
Great, Great, Great. Everyone loved this dip. I added about a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese to it, as that's how I've had it in our local restaurant. Thanks so much for this easy, delicious recipe.
