Restaurant-Style Chicken Tenderloins

Reviewed: May 31, 2012
the chicken was gone in less than 10 minutes. my boyfriend loved it!! definitely did add a dash of salt while cooking and first chopped up some onions, caramelized them then added the chicken with the marinade and sauteed it all for 15 minutes. it was amazing, just add a little bit of water after the first ten minutes because it might burn.

Puerto Rican Tostones (Fried Plantains)

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2012
awesome recipe, easy to follow, gave it four stars because i skipped the water step, freaked me out and don't really wanna deal with a house fire. the only thing is they did not come out crispy but that may be just my fault because i mistakenly turned down the heat on the wrong burner. will try again but besides that very nice recipe, pretty proud of myself, haven't made tostones from scratch in awhile. oh, and one more thing, i also put about a tbsp of salt and a tbsp of sugar in a cup mixed together and sprinkled them on top of the tostones as soon as i got them out the frying pan the second time, delish!! the sugar makes it even better!!

Colombian Lentils

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2012
awesome recipe!! i added a cup of chicken broth when i added the potatoes but only cuz i doubled the recipe to make sure i had leftovers. i also added about two tbsp of minced garlic to the recipe due to some reviews. it came out delish, will have to do again but i might just do the amount asked because i had a lot of leftovers. the cumin is such a strong spice, i could smell it all over the house but it was awesome, i wouldn't trade it for anything else. thanks for the recipe caro!!

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2012
the chicken was a disaster, but i'm only a beginner. first of all, you need more vegetable oil. frying chicken should not be done in a skillet but in something big, and whatever you use fill up half of it with the vegetable oil. then, heat up the oil, put it at 7, that's where it should stay too. as for the batter, my boyfriend schooled me on frying chicken, after my failed attempt he came to the rescue. he got a nice medium sized mixing bowl and whipped 2 eggs, about a cup of milk, and i wanna say 2 cups of seasoned flour (all-purpose works too). he dipped the chicken in the batter and made sure it was all battered up. then he made sure the oil was done by sprinkling the batter in the oil, unless the batter starts to fry when it hits the oil, the oil is still not hot enough. then he put in the chicken one by one, he put maybe two or three at a time, but not more than that. and key is to constantly turn the chicken. now, a little advice on making sure it's cooked all the way through, cut a long slice inside the chicken so the oil will get inside the chicken, this helps also with checking whether it still needs more cooking or whether it's done. we like our chicken to be cooked all the way through, the bone could be a little bit pink and i mean like barely even pink but that's about it. he always tells me, chicken is done if it floats to the top. we added chicken as we pulled out, and like i said, his chicken came out a beautiful dark brown color, i was so mad...

Brazilian White Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2012
good flavor, it only came out a little bland because i added the salt a little later than i was supposed to. i messed up the recipe since i did a lot of things wrong but because of the ingredients it didn't come out as bad as my past rice disasters, hopefully next time i will have better luck. but, most definitely good recipe.

Sweet and Sour Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2012
it was amazing but much too spicy. i am not a big fan of spicy food so i mellowed it down with some sweet and sour sauce we had left over from some chinese take out. that's why i'm giving it the four stars rather than five. i also cut the pork into strips before marinading it over night and stir fryed it. to give it a little color i chopped up some green onions too and added them as i stir fryed the pork. next time i'm adding about a cup of sweet and sour sauce and adding the green onions when they're almost cooked to perfection.

Rosemary Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
ok, i don't cook but i've recently started and i found this recipe. the chicken came out AMAZING!! i used 4 leg quarters instead, and i roasted the chicken too. now, reading people's reviews this is what i did, i also added a bit of honey, don't ask me how much i just drizzled some on but if you want measurements let's say 3 tbsp. AND when i put the chicken in the casserole dish i put two bigs scoops of butter and made sure to butter both sides of the chicken with a fork, just to make sure they all have a little bit of butter on them. the chicken came out so soft and juicy, it was amazing. my boyfriend just told me to poke holes with a fork on the chicken next time when marinading so the marinade will go in deeper into the chicken but he loved it. since i made those changes i'm giving it four stars but it is a very easy to follow and simple recipe, a must try!!
