Butter Icing for Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2003
This frosting is perfect. It is easy to make and easily speadable. Once set it is still soft, but you can easily stack cookies without any problems. Try it with Almond extract for a delicious flavor...excellent on sugar cookies. I used it on the recipe titled Best Rolled Sugar Cookies-delicious. Perfect for decorating Holiday themed cut out cookies! I used food coloring with great results. This is a keeper.

Strawberry Blue Cheese Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
This turned out quite good. I made the following adjustments: Used a store bought vinegarette (blush wine by Brianna's), used glazed/sugared walnuts, and gargonzola cheese. Everyone had seconds, but no one raved or complimented the recipe. I loved it, though! I would actually give it a 4 and a half if there were such a rating.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2003
If you are thinking about making this recipe, do it! It is by far the best, soft sugar cookie recipe I have ever had. Perfect with Butter Frosting for Cookies (recipe on this site)! I think they are better when rolled out to 1/2 inch or so because they stay soft. Very easy to roll out, but be sure to flour generously. The extra flour does not hurt to flavor at all. These will be a staple in our home for the holidays. Enjoy!

Tough Buck Barbecue

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
This was excellent. I used venison steaks instead of ribs and cooked them in a dutch oven for 3 hours at 300 degrees. They came out fork tender and shreddable. We ate the leftovers as bbq sandwiches on buns...mmm! This is a keeper in our venison eating home.

Norwegian Lefse

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
Yummy! After tackling this recipe, I decided to leave it up to the professionals though! Too much work for this lady, but now I can say I have made Lefse. My brother appreciated the gift (I made this for his birthday). My 4 year old enjoyed helping me with the project as well.

Sesame Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: May 10, 2007
I really liked this! I changed a couple things. I used raw broccoli and I used applecider vinegar because I did not have rice vinegar, I tripled the sugar, and used half the amount of sesame oil. I also added a couple dashes of powdered ginger and garlic. It tasted wonderful! I actually couldn't stop eating the broccoli straight out of the freshly made marinade..yummy and refreshing!

Pork Chops with Delicious Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
Very Good and super easy! I made this just because I had all the ingredients and my family devoured it! I doubled the gravy and subst. real maple syrup for the honey. I also seasoned the chops with lemon pepper and lawrys. This is a keeper!

Blackened Shrimp Stroganoff

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2007
This is a KEEPER! My whole family including 2 girls ages 6 and 4 loved it! The sauce was delicate and creamy, but not thick or too rich. It coated the noodles lightly. I made some changes because we did not have some ingredients. I used frozen precooked tailess shrimp and frozen peas. I sauted my onion instead of a scallion and added 2 garlic cloves. I used the broth, then added the mix of cornstarch, light sour cream, and broth. I had to simmer this for a few minutes for it to thicken (it was still runny- but perfect for us!). Then I added the shrimp and peas and 2T of fresh parsley. I served it with garlic bread and it would also go well with a green salad. Yumm-O!

Lentil Soup III

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2007
This recipe was ok. I gave it only 3 stars because I ended up throwing the leftovers away. Nobody really cared to have it a second time. Sorry!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2007
I highly recommend this soup! I ended up making mine 3 hours ahead and letting it simmer and reduce. I needed to keep adding water to keep it from burning. I also included celery and carrots in my version. I ate and ate and couldn't stop myself!!! Sooooo delicious! Thanks for the recipe!

Garlic-Lemon Double Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2004
This recipe was delicious and rich. I made a few alterations out of neccessity. I used chicken tenderloins, I eliminated the cheddar and cut the butter down to 4 T. Instead of stuffing, I rolled the tenders in the breading mix and laid some cream cheese ontop of each. I also added dallops of minced garlic ontop of the chicken. They were great. The lemon flavor was on the bottom of the tenders making them perfectly and ever so slightly tart and lemony. I could even make this without the cr. cheese and it would still be a keeper. Thanks for a great flavor combo!

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2004
This recipe was delicious. I served it over Shrimp with cheese tortellini. It was very rich and the parmesan made it flavorful. The only negative thing was that it didn't store well (it all separated when I re-heated the next day), but it still tasted delicious.

Scrumptious Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2003
This was very easy to make, we substituted canned sweet potatoes and it turned out great. The topping was the real showstopper. The taste was very good, and I rated it a 5 because I kept eating it bit by bit from the baking dish even though dinner was over...I just couldn't stop. I did cut down the white sugar a bit since others said it was too sweet. Worked for us!
