42-year-old Mom,Yahoo 360 profile name "Tygrhaus", just in case anyone's interested. I keep my blog there. I bake my own bread, make my own noodles, and just generally refuse to buy anything processed. I was a student at CSU Hayward until quite recently, and now I'm thinking about going back to work, so my time in the kitchen is probably going to be a bit mroe limited...
My favorite things to cook
Anything from scratch. Anything that makes use of the produce out of my garden. Antique recipes, vintage recipes - I love the thought of making something my grandmother might have made
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom's Christmas Stolen (Christmas bread with raisin/brown sugar/yummy stuff filling). Thanksgiving turkey with all the traditional goodies.
My cooking triumphs
I kick bread butt! I can make anything with yeast bread, which was about the hardest thing I had to learn. I'm thinking of tackling cheese next, and I have a medieval recipe book that describes how to take half a suckling pig and stitch it to half a turkey and roast it as a "cockatrice". Wow. That's ninja master level cooking!
My cooking tragedies
Too numerous to mention. You don't spend 20+ years cooking without making some tremendous failures, I can tell you. The grander you attempt, the further you have to fall, and I've tried some really grand things in my time.
