Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2013
I marinated the chicken for 24 hours so it was so dark from the soy sauce that i couldn't tell if it was cooked or not.. I ended up with some very over-cooked and charred chicken. It was still okay but i'm upset that i didn't get to try it cooked properly. Obviously this is my own fault and i can only suggest that others do not make this mistake either. Thanks for the recipe! :)

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2013
I followed suggestions by others: soaking noodles, omitting salt, fresh basil, red wine, leaving out a can of tomato paste. It had NO taste. It was so bland and disappointing. Will never make again.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
These were very good. I've been meaning to make pancakes for a while and it only dawned on me last night that i have everything in stock to make my own pancakes and a 1/4 bottle of aunt jamima maple syrup that i've been meaning to use for quite some time. These cooked up perfectly. I think next time i'll cut down on the baking powder and use UNSALTED butter.. i always buy salted butter and it never makes a difference but the extra salt with the baking powder made the pancakes taste, well, too salty. Let batter sit for 10ish minutes to thicken. Will make again.

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2013
I've never made Chicken Noodle Soup before.. I've never even made soup and now i can't wait to do it again. So much better than from a can!.. But that doesn't really set the bar very high. Taking from some other reviewers I added a minced clove of garlic, the chopped carrots, and a CUP of chopped onions in the initial sauté. I cut up a raw chicken breast and cooked it separately with salt and pepper and then added in the last 10 minutes of simmering. I also put 2 cups of raw egg noodles and 2 fresh thyme sprigs in the mix. I wanted to make this for my boyfriend who has a cold but i can't help but want to eat all of it myself. Excellent recipe!

Slow Cooker Roast Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2012
I would make this again but it wasn't mind blowing. I used only a 1/4 cup of soy sauce because of the saltiness issue. I figured we could always add table salt if need be. The gravy was delicious but no different than what you can get at the store if you ask me. Meat pulled apart nicely but it wasn't ad juicy as i was hoping. Cooked on low for 10 hours and served with a side of mashed sweet potatoes as well as the gravy.

Barbeque Tempeh Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2012
I followed the "most helpful" review which was the first one stating to boil in broth and then lightly brown in the pan. The tempeh did not taste bad at all.. in fact, it didn't really have much of a taste at all. BBQ sauce was the only thing i could taste. Don't get wrong, i love BBQ sauce and pretty much any condiment known to man, but this was a little over the top. MIGHT make again...

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2012
Just made these a few hours ago as a surprise Birthday breakfast for my boyfriend. Absolutely amazing! It's just the two of us so i halved the recipe to make six. I prepared the dough by hand since i wasn't sure if such a small batch would work in my bread machine. When i cut the roll the six pieces were still too big so i cut it into 12 pieces instead. I know these are supposed to mimic a cinnabon, which are enormous, but i was fine settling with just copying the taste. This also cut the calories per serving in half which is nice. Very very good, would not change a thing and will definitely make again.

Easy Pizza Sauce I

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
I had been looking for an easy homemade sauce to go with my homemade pizza doughs and this one is a winner. It's simple and quick. I found it a little too watery and that was even after i left out the extra half cup of water. I also left out the rosemary since i never have any on hand. Next time, i will cut it down to 3/4 cup water and 1 garlic clove.. too potent with the two but otherwise this was absolutely delicious and such a nice compliment to my from scratch pizzas. My boyfriend and i couldn't shut up about it while we were eating!

Simply Traditional Lasagna

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
Would make again in a heartbeat. So easy to throw together and i love that you don't have to cook the noodles. I know it seems scary but they really do cook in the lasagna itself. Makes you realize you could probably do that with any lasagna. The heat and moisture from the layers of sauce and meat soften the noodles and the time spent in the oven takes it the rest of the way. I think next time i'll leave out the sausage and sub with more ground beef. I felt the sausage flavor took over the others too much.

Slow Cooker Thanksgiving Turkey

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
Made this last Thanksgiving and am just now getting around to rating it. This was hands down the juiciest turkey i've ever had. It was shame that myself and my boyfriend could only muster a slice or two alongside all the other dishes i had prepared. It wasn't nearly as good the next day or the day after that, but right out of the slow-cooker?! EXCELLENT!

Hearty Ham Casserole

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
Made this the night after making ham, cabbage, and potatoes that resulted in too many leftovers. Obviously, i didn't get to use the cabbage and had to throw it out, but the ham and potatoes found another purpose. Did not add any parsley but i always omit spices i don't already have on hand or substitute with something else and have never been disappointed. Boyfriend thought it was amazing.

Beer Margaritas

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
Made these for a friends BBQ last week. They were just okay. Didn't really cut the sweetness and weren't very strong. By the third batch, i have to admit, i was mostly mixing beer and tequila! Would definitely whip up again though. They were still a huge hit.

Chicken Teriyaki - It's a Secret

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
Had abundance of frozen chicken and uncooked white rice needed something to use the two that had an asian flare without having to purchase a million different ingredients that i'd never use again. This tasted worse than it smelled which i thought almost impossible. Did 1/4 cup soy with 3/4 mayo 1 minced garlic clove and a tbsp of brown sugar. Something tells me those 2 add in's weren't the culprit. For some reason my boyfriend loved it but i found myself forcing it down so as not to let it go to waste. Needless to say, he took the rest to work. Never again. Sorry.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
I just made these and they're not that great. Definitely not worth the calories. I scaled down the recipe to make 12 servings and prepared it in a 9x9 pyrex dish and i still cut 16 huge squares out of it. Too sweet and too heavy. Half of one square gave me an instant stomach ache. Will never make again.

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2012
I've always wanted to make my own bagels but thought it would be too difficult. This was TOO EASY! I added a cup of raisins and a tablespoon of cinnamon. Next time I might cut back cause they were too sweet. I also added one and one half tsp of vital wheat gluten to make them chewier. I live and grew up in Bergen county NJ and our bagels are massive so I actually only made 4 bagels out of this recipe to get the size I was used to. They didn't rise too much but I'm sure that was my fault for playing with the dough so much when I was trying to figure out the right size. I will definitely make again and since I'll be better prepared, I'm sure they'll turn out even better. **UPDATE** So, I just made these again. I did everything the same except use less cinnamon, more vital wheat gluten, and I made six (they're so small!). Both times I've found they are very dense and chewy which I love but I just wish they would have a little more fluff to them. They barely rise in the oven. They're still fantastic but I'm striving for bagel store fantastic and I can't seem to get it. Maybe I'll go there and ask them what I'm doing wrong. BTW: I made sure not to mess with the dough nearly as much.
