I graduated from the CIA in early 2009 and have extensive experience in hotels, restaurants, and catering. My family background starts with my grandparents, and continued through my father, who brought me officially in to the professional kitchen when I was just 12.
My favorite things to cook
Fussy little appetizers, soups, funkified comfort foods, "fridge cleaner" and leftover specialties at home, and anything my friends want to eat!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hot dog soup, French Onion soup, Christmas Eve house parties, Grandpa's Ham with Brown Sugar Gravy, Knotty Pine Prime Rib, arguing with my Dad over how to cook :-)
My cooking triumphs
Curry Spiked Hummus, Gorgonzola and Roasted Red Pepper Pasta, Citrus Sponge with Ginger Cream Cheese Frosting and Butter Roasted Walnuts, Pumpkin Mousse Halibut, Sausage stuffed Pork Loin wrapped with Cajun Crusted Candied Bacon.
My cooking tragedies
One of my early improv cooking nights with my boyfriend at the time- pasta with this bizarre clam/soy creamy sauce.
