About this Cook
I'm 74 and retired from my business in 2009. Sell Mary Kay for 13 years.
My favorite things to cook
Spaghetti Sauce w/meatballs & sausage Lasagne Chow Mein Fish Salisbury Steak w/gravy Great w/sauces & gravies
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother wasn't much of a cook, but she taught me how to make a great gravy, although I think mine is much better, since I put seasonsings in it she wouldn't even try. I also make a great spaghetti sauce and Pork Green Chili STew.
My cooking triumphs
Once had a cookie recipe put in the newspaper and received a $20 check. Took me awhile to figure a good recipe for Green Chili w/Pork. Never had anything Mexican until I moved to Colorado. I can usually make anything I have a recipe for and even some things I don't have a recipe for.
My cooking tragedies
Cooking a meatloaf with elk. Worse meatloaf I ever had.

Basic Mashed Potatoes
Lee's Mashed Potatoes - I find when making mashed potatoes that using evaporated milk makes them creamier and I leave a little of the potato water in there to thin them down. I like a lot of butter and salt is a must. Lee S.

Mom's Country Gravy
I use butter instead of oil. Also a little crumbled up cooked bacon and sausage. Salt is a necessity, without it no flavor at all also pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and a dash of Worchestshire sauce. Country gravy has to be more than a white sauce. It has to taste like southern country. Maybe a 1/2 tsp. of chicken bouillon also. Lee S.
