A jack of all trades. Business woman(real estate investor). Mother of 6(ages ranging from 8 yrs to 2 mos). Very outgoing with outdoor things (hiking, sports, gardening), and indoor things (sewing, crafting, cooking)....I want to be the best example to my children, so everything we do we try to give our best.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that has a mix of exotic flavors...salmon salad w/ mango, arugula leaves, cantaloupe, sun-dried tom., and pesto sauce...yummy...Southern food, just to give comfort. And anything I cook, I like to see the ingredients that I am tasting.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Saturday mornings big breakfast...quiche, french toast, home-made sausage, home-fried potatoes, fruit-salad, with slices of tomotoes w/mozzeralla.....Yummy
My cooking triumphs
Well it isn't really cooking. But I make this Chai Tea mix that is do die for....People have told me that I need to sell it. Instead I make a powered Chai tea mix and give it away as gifts
My cooking tragedies
I burn dry beans every time I cook them. I leave the kitchen and never come back...lol lol....I come back only because I see the smoke and burnt smell from the back of the house

B and L's Strawberry Smoothie
You have to make this smoothy recipe the way it is written. If you want to decrease the sugar that is fine. But to all of the reviewers that are decreasing the sugar and adding vanilla yogurt, they are actually adding more sugar than the original recipe. The whole point of this recipe is to get from the healthiness of the yogurt by adding something sweet(strawberries), without making it unhealthy like adding vanilla yogurt(which contains sooooo much sugar).

Sweet Potato, Carrot, Apple, and Red Lentil Soup
Excellent...Excellent. My whole family loved it, including 5 children ranging from 2 to 8 years old. The key to making this successful is to puree only half of the soup. You want the texture of the vegetables, so nobody is thrown off by the baby food puree texture. But at the same time you want to blend the flavors of the sweet(sweet potato, carrots, and apples) and the spicy (ginger, chili powder, paprika, pepper)...I did change it a lil bit but using 1 sweet, and 1 reg potato......A dopple of yogurt on top is an added bonus, use yogurt folks, not sour cream. It does make a difference. I served this over white basmati rice, and a salad for a full meal.

Whole Grain Waffles
You don't understand, my husband and 4 boys, all under age 5, can't stand anything that even resembles anything healthy. But they sure did love these waffles, with no added powered sugar on top, nor any syrup. These waffles are absolutely delicious. I made two batches of these waffles, the first batch I made exactlly like the recipe called for. The second batch I made some slight changes: instead of the wheat germ, I replaced it with oatmeal, I replaced the white sugar for brown sugar, I added 1/2 cup of blueberries(thawed and drained), and added about 2 TB more of milk to make it thinner for easier pouring. And I didn't spray or add any oil to the waffle plate. This second batch didn't stick at all, and they tasted like gourmet restaurant waffles. Thank you for this healthy and delicious recipe.
