About this Cook
I consider myself a "cook" and not a chef! I use cans and prepared sauces but I can put togther a pretty good meal. I guess I would call me a "semi-stratch" cook. I don't use pre processed "meal helpers" I love everyone's cooking, from the sublime to the most basic. I cherish the pleasure of sitting down to a "shared" meal cooked by a friend or family member.
My favorite things to cook
I love braising and stewing and cooking Cantonese dishes. I am slowly learning Indian spices and Yucatan techniques.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homestyle Chinese Dinners!
My cooking tragedies
Don't even ask me to bake.! Once I made some cookies that came out so hard that when my friend threw one out of a third story window it didn't break!!! Luckily, no one was below!

Venison Stew I
i am surprised when people complain about the recipe retaining the gameiness of the vension. Excuse me, I believe we're cooking venison here! Anyway, I used this recipe with a bit of my own addition such as red wine and it was delicious. To be perfectly honest, I am afraid the gameiness was cooked out too much. The reason I like venison is the gamey taste. The recipe was easy and I think the results were excellent. I don't think of venison as a cheap meat I get from my hunter friends that I try to make taste like beef. I enjoy it as its own meat with its own characteristics! VENISON! YUM!
