This IS an easy version for 1st time makers. I have been making this delicious dessert since I was a kid.....so, just a few tips: I am a devout user of cardamom and believe it to be a necessary ingredient for authentic flavor, a little goes a long way and it's expensive, so see if someone you know will let you experiment with a little....also I prefer to use pistachios (yes, I spend an evening watching a movie and shelling the little guys)again, authentic...but I'm not afraid to mix it up with whatever I've got on hand...pecans, almonds, walnuts mixed equally works great. I have always used powdered sugar and I'm VERY liberal with the butter (2 pounds!) Just goes to show, this recipe can withstand whatever tweaking suits your taste! It's an absolute JOY to share this type of "homemade LOVE" with friends and family! You will be famous!!!
