Grandma's Apple Pie 'Ala Mode' Moonshine

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2013
Made this last night. So good! Didn't want to make any expensive purchases, so I substituted what I had on hand. Captain Morgan for the Everclear and plain vodka vs. vanilla. Added powdered vanilla bean into the apple mixture. Tasted just like apple pie filling!

Chai Tea Mix

Love this recipe! I added the additional spices recommended and changed the sweetener to 1-1/2 c. splenda. I also have found vanilla caramel creamer that I use. Can't ever go wrong adding caramel to something!

Chai Tea Mix

I was looking for "diet" customizations of this recipe and found your method. This is exactly how I have been doing it for months now. It definitely reduces the "chunks" of spices you encounter as you get to the bottom of the cup. I also take a rolling pin over the plastic bag to break down the milk powder a bit too.

Creamy Caramel Flan

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
Made this in my pressure cooker and it turned out beautifully. Put mixture in springform and covered tightly with foil. Placed in cooker on rack and added 2 cups of water to base of cooker. Brought to boil, put cooker lid on and brought to pressure. Once at pressure started timing for 10 minutes. At end of time, took cooker off heat and let pressure reduce naturally. Removed from cooker and put on wire rack to cool one hour, then refrigerated. Also have made successfully using aluminum cupcake liners inside baking pan placed in cooker.

Broccoli Crab Bisque

We have made this soup for at least 8 years, since it was first published in Taste Of Home. It is the first soup we make once fall comes around. Very good with bread!

Sugartime Lemon Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
Made this with my kids. Very easy to throw together. The only change I made was to add twice as much lemon zest for some extra tartness. We all really enjoyed it, and will be making it again this weekend for my lemon-fanatic mother.

Potato Pork Skillet

We have made this recipe for years now, and we love it. It is just so good! The only thing we do different is add more mushrooms and a bit more salt.

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
Awesome awesome recipe! I had a group of 8 Tiger Cub Scouts make this recipe last night, each in their own 9x9 aluminum pan. The boys mixed all the ingredients right in the pan, and they all came out great with minimal mess. I am not a big cornbread fan, but I really liked this recipe! My southerner husband has pretty much eaten all of the one my son made at scouts! Thanks for the recipe!

Mac 'n' Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
We make this all the time, and my husband loves it. And of course the kids do too. Sometimes we substitute a pound of ground beef for the ham for a cheeseburger-style soup.

Easy Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2007
Took these for a treat at library storyhour for 1-5 year olds (the world's pickiest age group) and the kids loved them! All had a second muffin, and some asked for a third. My 3 kids were arguing over the leftovers later at home, so I ended up making another batch. Made the following modifications: 1. Used Cinnamon Swirl cake mix that has a packet of swirl-in cinnamon mixture in the box. Used half of the cinnamon mix in the muffin batter, and used the remaining amount to sprinkle over the top of unbaked muffins for a strusel-like topping. 2. 2 eggs 3. 1/3 cup applesauce 4. Baked in cupcake liners 1/2 full for 20 minutes. 5. After cooled, drizzled cream cheese icing over the tops of the muffins.
