Cream Cheese Frosting with Brown Butter and Bourbon

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2012
i was so excited about this recipe after reading all the wonderful reviews but after going thru all the trouble of making it i was extremely disappointed. i followed the recipe exactly and it ended up tasting just like a bowl of sugar. no nutty flavor or bourbon taste at all. it was not worth all the hard work that went into it.

Beer-Batter Onion Rings

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2012
i did not care for this recipe and would have given it a 3 but my brother liked it and thought it should get a four. it needed a lot more beer than called for and a lot more seasoning as it was very bland. we added garlic powder, salt, pepper, chilli powder, and paprika. we also battered some sweet potato which was quite tasty and different. overall, the recipe needed so many changes that i will prob try a different one next time.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2012
i was a bit worried about this recipe bec some of the reviews scared me but it turned out beautifully! i followed it to a tee and it was super easy. it was moist without being too spongy or too dense and it was super tasty, not too sweet or chocolaty but just right. some tips for those who thought it was spongy- do not over beat. just beat enough to mix all the ingredients properly. also, many ppl mentioned it was hard to work with but if you use one well greased 9x13 it is just fine (i'd steer clear of cupcakes or layered cakes). i frosted it with the Coffee Butter Frosting and it was perfect. thanks!

Roast Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
very good base. i used yukon gold potatos bec that is what i had and they were perfect! had a natural sweetness from the potato. i did guesstimate with the amounts bec my scale broke so i didnt know how many pounds i used (but def more than two). i mixed all the ingredients in a bag and after placing them on the roasting pan i sprinkled with a little garlic powder. they did take a lot longer than 20 min. i cooked mine for closer to 45. thanks!

Malaysian Mango Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
i just finished making this and haven't tasted it yet (except a small piece of pepper that i snuck which was good :)). it smells amazing and the colors are so pretty together. it was super easy to make and the only small change i made was to add one clove of garlic (it was a small one so im sure it didnt make that much of a difference). i cant wait to go eat it as soon as my bro comes home!

Basic Broiled Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2011
basic but very good. i made it tonight bec i was in a jam and didnt have a lot of time or ingredients. it was just my bro and me and we both thought it was good. i used boneless/skinless chicken breast cut thinly and it wasn't dry at all. i broiled for three minutes each side and it was good (as another person suggested). will definitely make it again. thanks!
