I originally made this for a traditional Irish dinner that I was hosting & it was such a hit that I've made it every week since. It's super versatile - try it plain, use cranberries instead of raisins (I only use 1 c - not 3), non fat yogurt for sour cream (to save a few calories), Gluten Free - it's all amazing. I love that it's fast and no bread machine necessary to yields warm homemade bread in just about an hour.
Noteworthy: My inlaws just got back from Ireland and said this is the most authentic soda bread in the states.
