About this Cook
Love to cook... love getting ideas from recipes. Usually don't follow them exactly. Lots of excellent and seasoned cooks have posted on this site and I really enjoy "the buzz" :)
My favorite things to cook
Almost anything that doesn't eat me first. I have always enjoyed cooking but have recently been baking more. Using measuring utensils is taking some getting used to! :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Breakfast like my grandma always made special for family & turkey dinners... from scratch, giblets and all.
My cooking triumphs
Catering a large wedding as a gift for the newlyweds.
My cooking tragedies
I've had many meals that I certainly wouldn't attempt again. Fortunately none would be completely "tragic".

Jack's Chocolate Chip Cookies
I have made these three times now. The recipe is excellent as written - I followed it exactly twice. Most recently I tweaked it by using both all purpose white flour and wheat flour, was the best batch so far. I will make these again for sure!

Pam's Bierocks
These turned out very good. I had some sauerkraut that I added to the filling along with the fresh cabbage. I look forward to making this recipe again... This sweet bread would be great with other fillings also. Thanks for sharing pushkemaa!

Pumpkin Muffins with Streusel Topping
Really good! Plan to make again this week. Almost followed recipe as written... but didn't have pumpkin pie spice on hand so improvised with 2 T allspice, 1 T cinnamon, 1 T nutmeg. No raisins either, but added 1 Cup chopped walnuts. Loved the recipe, worked well with paper muffin tin liners - moist with wonderful streusel top!
