Easy Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce

Reviewed: May 14, 2003
Delicioso! I was a little leary of using onion flakes and garlic powder but it tasted just as good as fresh, with a lot less hassle. The sauce freezes well, too. I usually make up a double batch of the sauce and throw half in the freezer for an easy, quick meal another night. Thanks for posting this one!

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: May 20, 2003
Very good! I made it with Lipton's "Beefy Onion" soup mix. It took the full 10 hours and the meat still wasn't quite as tender as I like it, but I guess that varies by slow cookers.

Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2003
Very good! My picky toddler ate it up like there was no tomorrow :) However I would recommend turning the chicken during the baking process as mine got gooey on the bottom. But it still tasted great!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2003
Absolutely WONDERFUL melts in you mouth! And for anyone with a whole family of teetotalers like mine, who wouldn't hear of having beer in the au jus... It tastes just as good without! Just add 12 extra ounces of beef broth to make up the liquid volume.

Bean and Beef Shaloupias

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2003
Very good, but I personally found the beans to be very bland prepared this way. I added some reserved bacon drippings to the slow cooker to liven them up a little. Next time I make it I will use refried beans.

Chicken Tetrazzini IV

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2003
Absolutely decadent! Just be sure that you use GRATED parmesan, not shredded (like I did, oops) as it won't melt, and will dry out on top of the casserole. Still tastes good but hard to chew.

Egg Fried Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2003
Quite good, needs a little more egg in my opinion. But I will tinker with it as I will definitely be making it again. My toddler loves the fried rice at our favorite Chinese restaurant, and often asks me for "rice and peas" for lunch, so I've been looking for a good recipe. This is the best one I've found.

Beef Pot Pie III

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2003
Very good! 100 times better than the frozen kind. Needed a little more salt and pepper added at the serving stage, but I will know next time to add extra to the gravy as it thickens. I will definitelty be adding this one to the family menu!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2003
Very good! I'm still not sure what made me try this recipe as it isn't the type of dish I normally go for, but I'm very glad I did. Even my 18 month old daughhter and 4 year old nephew enjoyed it, and that's tough to do in the same meal! :) When I make it again, I plan to cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces before cooking. Definitely a keeper, thanks for the recipe.

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2003
Very good, quick, easy. Serves well beside an everyday dish or an elegant one. I make mine with melted margarine instead of olive oil (you only live once after all.) I also take them out and stir them at the halfway point of the cooking time, because the onion pieces can burn. After they're done, I sprinkle them lightly with garlic salt and fresh-ground pepper. Yum!

Steak Fingers

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2003
It's a good basic recipe but definitely needs a little personalization to make it more exciting. I recommend adding the salt & pepper (and any other spices you'll be using) onto the meat before pounding it, the flavor comes through much better that way. I'm also considering adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the coating mixture next time I make them. I will be making them again though... they are much better than the pre-made kind with processed beef product.

Classic Fried Catfish

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2003
Very good! The breading has a slight "bite" from the cayenne pepper that blends wonderfully with the flavor of the fish.

Sesame Lime Steak Wraps

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2003
The marinade has an interesting, almost haunting flavor which reminded me a bit of passion fruit. My family enjoyed the flavor but the wrap concept doesn't really work. I'd use the marinade recipe for a stir-fry in the future, though.

Tender Onion Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2003
Excellent! Very flavorful and doesn't dry out like some baked chicken recipes. I added the dry ingredients to 1/2 C of bread crumbs because I figured the kids wouldn't taste it if it didn't look like "real" chicken strips. They liked it too!

I give this a "3" because my family enjoyed them, but I myself found them rather bland.

Chicken Flautas

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2003
Very good! I also added 1/4 tsp. of mesquite seasoning since I'm not a big fan of cumin, that helped balance out the flavor. They are very flavorful but not overly hot (so if you like hot, serve with extra salsa for dipping!) The kids loved them, and that makes any recipe a winner in my book.

Garlic Top Sirloin Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2003
Good but the garlic taste is awfully strong. And I'm a garlic lover so that's saying something. I wil probably make this again in the future but I will be making a few adjustments.

Kraft's Burritos Grande

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2003
DELICIOUS! And relatively easy to prepare too. If you add pico de gallo and rice, and cook them on a griddle on the stovetop, they taste almost exactly like Taco Bell's grilled burritos.
