Incredibly Easy Chicken and Noodles

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2003
I am re-reviewing this because it came out MUCH better the second time I made it. The key for me was to let it simmer an extra 15 minutes. I'm not sure why that made so much of a difference in the flavor, but I'm glad it did! Cheese lovers: try substitiuting cheddar cheese soup for the cream of mushroom, it's delicious that way!

Excellent! It got more attention than the main dish.

Classic Fish and Chips

Very good recipe! The batter really brings out the flavor of the fish. I used some pollock I had in the freezer and it came out great.

Easy Chicken Taco Filling

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2003
I give it one star because my family ate it, but otherwise it was a disaster! The poor little veggies had practically burned away to nothing while the chicken was still half raw in the middle. It took some quick thinking to even keep them at an edible level.

Baked Linguine with Meat Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2003
This was pretty good. I see a few changes I will make if I make it again. I would recommend using chive flavored cream cheese rather than putting chunks of green onion in with it, much smoother that way. I also think the meat sauce needs a little more kick, like maybe some oregano or basil. But overall very good, the family enjoyed it.

Julia's Easy Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2003
Very tasty, moist and filling! I substituted cream of brocolli soup as I'm not a mushroom eater, and it came out great. Even the kids loved it.

Beef Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2003
Very good flavor! It took a lot more prep time than I expected. The meat was also rather tough and chewy. I think the next time I make these, I will throw the sauce ingredients and a chuck roast in my slow cooker and shred the beef when it's nice and tender. But I will definitely be making it again!

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2003
Very good! A bit time consuming, but my 18-month old gobbled it up, so I'll definitely be making it again! My only recommendation: unless you REALLY like thyme, I would use just a pinch or leave it out altogether. It overwhelms the flavor of the gravy.

Easy Minute Steaks

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2003
Delicious, easy, and inexpensive... who could ask for more? I season mine with garlic salt and fresh-ground pepper, then when they have browned I just pour the soup in the skillet, put on the lid, and let it simmer over low heat for at least an hour, if not several. Comes out wonderfully tender and leaves my oven free to bake some potatoes for a side dish.

Taco Pizza

THIS IS DELICIOUS!! I used refridgerated pre-made crust since I don't have a bread machine, and it was a little soggy because of all the toppings. But other than that it was perfect. We'll definitely be making this one again!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew III

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2003
Very good! I made a few "tweaks" to the recipe (esp. using beef broth in place of the water, makes a much richer flavor.) My whole family loved it, even my 18 month old, and that's a feat!

Beef Tips

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2003
Came out great! I heeded the advice of others and cut out the additional salt, and I always use low-sodium soy sauce anyway. I have found the key to the best flavor is to simmer it at a higher temperature (I set it between low and medium,) keeping it lightly boiling. The meat becomes delightfully tender and the sauce reduces to a rich and slightly spicy perfection. Also I let it continue to simmer for about 20-30 minutes after I add the gravy mix, before bringing it up to a rolling boil so it can thicken. Hope this helps somebody! We LOVE this recipe!

AWESOME!! Ate myself stupid!! There will always be a bottle of Corwynn's barbecue sauce in my fridge from now on, it's the only barbecue we use!

Kraft's Burritos Grande

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2003
DELICIOUS! And relatively easy to prepare too. If you add pico de gallo and rice, and cook them on a griddle on the stovetop, they taste almost exactly like Taco Bell's grilled burritos.

Garlic Top Sirloin Pot Roast

Good but the garlic taste is awfully strong. And I'm a garlic lover so that's saying something. I wil probably make this again in the future but I will be making a few adjustments.

Chicken Flautas

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2003
Very good! I also added 1/4 tsp. of mesquite seasoning since I'm not a big fan of cumin, that helped balance out the flavor. They are very flavorful but not overly hot (so if you like hot, serve with extra salsa for dipping!) The kids loved them, and that makes any recipe a winner in my book.

Tender Onion Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2003
Excellent! Very flavorful and doesn't dry out like some baked chicken recipes. I added the dry ingredients to 1/2 C of bread crumbs because I figured the kids wouldn't taste it if it didn't look like "real" chicken strips. They liked it too!

Sesame Lime Steak Wraps

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2003
The marinade has an interesting, almost haunting flavor which reminded me a bit of passion fruit. My family enjoyed the flavor but the wrap concept doesn't really work. I'd use the marinade recipe for a stir-fry in the future, though.

Classic Fried Catfish

Very good! The breading has a slight "bite" from the cayenne pepper that blends wonderfully with the flavor of the fish.
