Sweet and Sour Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2012
I found this to be still too "sour" even taking some of the other suggestions into account ie: increasing the brown sugar to 1/4 cup and using rice vinegar. I think I'll keep searching for something different.

Restaurant-Style Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
I loved this soup!! I made it with fat free cream and thinned it down with a bit of milk as I like "brothy" soups. I read alot of the previous reviews and took those into account before I made my soup.

Gramma's Date Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
Date squares are one of my favorites and this is the first time I attempted to make them. Somehow I always thought dates would be too hard to work with to have any kind of success. I read alot of the reviews and incorporated many of the suggestions into my personal preference. I don't care for too much base or topping, so I had extra left over; I just froze it for my next batch. The suggestion to bake the base for 15 min before adding the filling was the best idea!! The sweetness to the filling is just as I like and I added vanilla for good measure. These are even better the next day once the flavors have blended together. Thanks for this great recipe Michelle.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2008
A very good basic starter for a "honey- garlic" type chicken dish. I let my chicken marinate in the sauce for an hour before baking. I added extra garlic powder for more favor, cut back a bit on the amount of soya sauce. All in all a good recipe, but have to agree with other reviews that the sauce didn't thicken up like I was expecting it to do.

Cream of Mushroom Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2007
This was a great mushroom soup. I reduced the cream by 1/2 a cup and used 1/2 cup of 1% milk; I don't think it make a difference to the taste but helped to reduce fat content.

Cream of Asparagus Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2005
Excellent soup, as most of the other posts have said. I did alter it a bit, cut back on the amount of chicken bouillon, used less water and added one cup of milk. Couldn't wish for anything better. YUM, YUM.

Zucchini Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2004
I tried this recipe in 2001 and can't believe I forgot to post a review. This is excellent soup. Thanks for the other post that pureeing the vegetables isn't necessary, made for less work. I made a couple of small changes, only use 2 Tblsp of sour cream (I'm not a sour cream fan)and I add a couple teaspoons of celery salt when saute the vegetables.

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry

I'm glad that I read all the other posted reviews as I took many of the suggestions into account when making this, ie: added salt, more seasonings, mushrooms, carrots and onions. I don't think I'll make this again, though.

Marinated Mushrooms II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2003
I made this recipe for our Xmas pot luck lunch and rec'd many compliments. I took the suggestion by another poster and cooked the mushrooms for 2 min and then simmered for 5 min. Need to double the recipe for next year's gathering I was told.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2003
This is very good chicken done in this way, and the family enjoyed it alot. I read several of the reviews before beginning. Also, took some of the suggestions for the Drunken Chicken recipe on this site. The changes I made were I used Italian dressing instead of the butter in the beer. Also, rubbed the chicken down with seasoning salt, celery salt and pepper. Will certainly make this again as my hubby isn't overly fond of roasted chicken, really liked this. Half of the fun is the presentation.

Homemade Wonderful Bread

Great recipe!! I read the previous reviews and followed their suggestions ie: didn't proof the yeast and used 1 1/2 cups of water. The loaf rose up to the top of the baking window and was very moist.

Three Bean Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2001
Great flavor. I personally like a sweet flavor to my bean salad. I followed the advice of other posts and used only 1/2 cup of sugar. Next time I'm going to use 2/3 of a cup of sugar and I think this recipe will then be perfect for my tastes.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2001
I did not think this was the BEST stew I've ever tasted. It seemed to lack some flavor. Next time I'd add some celery for sure and some other spices to jazz it up.
