Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2014
These are the best oatmeal cookies! The only change would be to use only 1 tsp. baking soda as they taste a tad salty to me. I also added a splash of milk. I used a cookie dough scooper and they were the perfect size...made about 3.5 dz.

Pat's Dumplings

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
These dumplings are wonderful. I made them tonight to use up some turkey broth. I only gave it four stars because I added some seasoning to it so it wasn't bland. I added some onion powder, garlic powder and poultry seasoning to the flour and salt. I just sprikled it in so not sure how much really. Gives a delicious flavor to the dumplings, especially when cooked in a good broth :)

Boiled Bagels

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
I made these bagels yesterday. They are fantastic! I made two batches, one plain and one with blueberries. The plain ones are good but seem to be missing something for me. For a plain bagel they are good though. I didn't change anything in the recipe except to let the dough rest for 30-40 min. prior to shaping and then another 30 min. rest after shaping. I had no issues with the bagels falling while or after boiling like some other reviewers said. Not sure why they had that happen. I did lightly grease my baking pan with olive oil and baked with the wettest side up. I let them drain a bit on another sheet before baking. Will definately try making onion or chocolate chip bagels next time. The blueberry are awesome as well. Get creative and try some experiments. These are worth making over and over again IMO. As for quantity, I made various sizes in the first batch and got 14. The second batch made 11. Any bigger I think would be too big. They seem small at first, but they raise and then raise more when boiled. Thanks for such an easy bagel recipe. I've wanted to make bagels for some time and now that I have, I won't be buying them again :)

Mardi Gras Gator Meat Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
My husband and son go gator hunting every few yrs. so this was a perfect recipe to try for us. The meat balls came out fantastic. I used the spices but added some cajun spice as well, and I only had dried parsley but it worked out fine. I made several meat balls ,and I used some of the meat mixture and formed into patties, coated in the cracker meal and fried in a little oil in a skillet. Made excellent burgers with homemade hot mustard. mmmmm... will be making these again for sure. Thanks so much!

No Bake Fudge Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
this is the recipe my family loves, minus the raisins. I add the cocoa with the sugar and butter and milk. Bring to a boil for 1 minute, take off heat, add PB, vanilla, and oats. I never have to roll them as they drop just fine. If it gets to thick or crumbly then it was cooked too long.

Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
great smoothie! I added a little sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla and used chocolate milk. Have lots of bananas to use up so will be making this often. Will try using frozen banana and omit the ice as well.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2009
This is a great recipe. Moist and flavorful bread. I used butter instead of shortening, but only half the amount. I doubled the bananas (I had a bunch to use up anyway) to add moistness since I cut the fat, used all brown sugar and added vanilla. I remembered the mayo in one batch and forgot it in the other. The one without came out pleny moist. The batch with the mayo was good but almost too moist. I think I'll stick with the extra bananas and skip the mayo. I made muffins instead of loaves so my kids could grab and go. I love this recipe and will be making it often.

Peanut Butter Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
Very good recipe. I followed exactly and the dough was very easy to work with and not sticky. Next time I think I will try using half the cream cheese and and adding more peanut butter to give a little more PB taste. I dipped in confectioners coating and they looked awesome. Very rich though, so next time I will make half the size. Made about 60 eggs and they are in the freezer. Great when we need that sugar fix, lol.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
these really are the best cut-out cookies. We made ours about 3/8 - 1/4 in. thick and they came out great. my girls loved cutting them and decorating them. I added and more vanilla (use real vanilla not immitation, it really does matter) these would be great for a cookie bouquet. they do spread a little and puff but you can still tell the shape. I intend to try that with this recipe. These were a little sticky but a little flour when rolling out does the trick. We rolled out on waxed paper but parchment paper would work great too. thanks for a great recipe!

Old Time Soft Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
this recipe is exactly what I've been looking for for my daughters. they love the lofthouse cookies at the local supercenter and these are as close as I've found. they are even better the next day and stay soft (cake-like) just how we like. These are not a cut-out cookie so we use another recipe for that. but these are awesome. I added extra vanilla and a 1/2 cup more sugar (I used powdered sugar for the extra but next time will try just granulated). Excellent recipe. thanks so much!

Chewy Caramel

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
this caramel isn't the best. it came out kind of grainy, almost like caramel fudge. I've never had caramel come out like that. I've made caramel several times over and this recipe was kind of disappointing. It served it's purpose but I will stick with my old recipe.

Strawberry Ice

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
This is so yummy. I was looking for something frozen without milk for my daughter after her tonsilectomy. This was perfect. I didn't have any lemon juice so I used cran-peach juice and it was great! Thank you so much for this recipe. I will be making use of the frozen berries from my garden :)

Favorite Corn Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
This is the best cornbread ever! I added a couple tablespoons of honey and Oh my gosh! My son said it was awesome and I will make this recipe from now on. I did have to bake it a bit longer than recipe stated but no big deal. It was perfect. I may add some cream corn to it next time and see how that works but it's perfect the way it is. Thank you so much for this recipe!!

Applesauce Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2008
All I can say is "thank you". These are so good. All my kids loved them. It made a bunch so we will have some left for breakfast. I used a batter dispenser to make donut shape but I think the holes would be even better. Will try that next time. this recipe is a keeper!!

Decorator Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2007
I used this recipe today for sugar cookies and it is awesome. I made sure to beat the butter (I used real butter) and sugar for a while to get it light and fluffy. Tastes wonderful and dries so they can be stacked. We used decorator bags to put the icing on the cookies and it worked great. I actually wrapped some in plastic wrap to ship and the icing didn't smear at all. this is a real keeper and I will use it often. My girls kept eating it out of the bowl too.

Grandpa's Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2007
I just made this fudge and it is great! I followed other reviews and added the butter, vanilla, and peanut butter after I brought the milk and sugar to soft ball stage and removed from heat. I used my hand mixer on 1 for 5 minutes and 2 for 1 minute. The fudge isn't grainy at all and set beautifully. I did reduce the sugar by 1 cup total (1/2 white and 1/2 brown). Will definately make again and not use marshmallow cream recipe.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
This recipe is awesome. I didn't have any brown sugar, so I used white sugar and an 1/8 cup or so of molasses. I used an extra banana or two as well. This is the only recipe I will use from now on. I made it into muffins and got about 20 regular muffins. Very good!!
