Blackberry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2012
Made it with mulberries instead because that is what I had in the freezer. Cooked filling in a pot on the stove and then transferred to oven safe bakeware.

Traditional White Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2013
The recipe doesn't call for kneading the bread before the second rise, but I did anyway (for about 5 minutes or less). Used canola oil instead of lard. Made a great sandwich bread.

Vegetable Chowder

omitted the cheese as it was creamy enough without the cheese. Used double the carrots and broccoli as I didn't have celery or cauliflower on hand. added a little bit of bacon.

Peppermint Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
Yumm. It is disappearing fast. I had to stir it a little towards the end of the cooking help all the chocolate melt. I made 2 batches, one with the 1/2 teaspoon peppermint and one where I doubled the peppermint extract. Would recommend doubling. I could barely taste the peppermint as called for in the original recipe. Very dense fudge.

Mulberry Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
Easy recipe that is easy to customize. I added a 1/4 cup of ground flax seed instead of adding the extra flour that some recommended. Used more mulberries than what the recipe called for. Also used frozen mulberries. Took a little longer to cook than the recipe said, maybe because the mulberries were still mostly frozen when I put the pie in the oven. Used the amount of sugar as listed in recipe, good amount, but could use a little less sugar if pairing with ice cream. Milk on top made the crust too soggy.

Amish White Bread

I had to use all-purpose flour instead of bread flour, but it still turned out great. I added a little extra yeast. Soft and fluffy inside with crisp outside.

Crab Cakes III

great flavor even though I couldn't find real crab meat and had to use imitation crab. I couldn't get them to stay together in a patty shape when I cooked them

Weekday Pot Roast and Vegetables

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
Great easy dinner; started dinner 1st thing in the morning. Substituted my own homemade gravy. Halved the recipe so that it would fit in my smaller crock pot and we were still eating it several days later.

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2012
Turned out great. I cooked the pizza a 375 for 30minutes and it could have cooked a little longer, but it was done all the way through. I also melted some butter with garlic salt and brushed it on the crust. I did need to add just a little more flour than the recipe called for to make the dough less sticky. Make sure to use bread flour. I used all purpose flour the second time I used this recipie and the crust was not very good. Awsome crust if you use bread flour. 0.25 oz = 2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast

Open-Faced Turkey Sandwiches

Next time I think I'll decrease the Worcestershire sauce. I added a little extra olive oil because the bread seemed too dry. I used cheddar cheese instead of mozzarella because that is what I had on hand.

Beets on the Grill

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2012
It took less time to cook when it was chopped into cubes first. I added other vegetables like potatoes, zucchini, etc. to the foil package before cooking. I liked it better having a variety of vegetables instead of just the beets. Old Bay seasoning was good on it too.

Fresh Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2013
Its too sweet with the full amount of honey. Starts to taste like egg with the full amount of egg. Use only 1/2 cup honey and/or maple syrup. Only use 2 to 3 eggs. Used 1 cup of heavy whipping cream or 1 cup half and half instead of milk and cream. Makes 2 pies.

Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2012
If you don't have a bread machine another user recommended: 1. Stir yeast in with warm milk and water. 2. I large bowl mix dry ingredients 3. Stir in yeast mixture add egg and butter. 4. Knead, adding a little flour at a time until the dough is smooth and not sticky. (kneaded in raisins at this point) 5. Let rise in warm place (covered with damp cloth) 6. When doubled, punch down, and let it rise again. When doubled again, Followed the rest of the recipe instructions.
