I grew up in the midwest and learned to cook from my Mother...taking over the responsibility of supper since I was about 15 0r 16. Nothing very complicated. Just plain ole homestyle food.
Later in life, I moved to Puerto Rico and met my hubby....I learned the traditional PR recipes and added my own special touches...
My favorite things to cook
Things that are easy and that use ingredients that are usually on-hand.
Love salads that are a meal..love things that are spicey (chili) and Puerto Rican specialties (paella) and the tradtional Rice and Beans (PR style)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Since my parents owned a grocery store while I was learning, I would say our traditions were to open cans...lol.
My cooking triumphs
My Taco Salad, My Special Prize-winning Trifle, my Green Salad Surprise, My Seafood Paella, My Cincinnati style Chili,
My cooking tragedies
The Banana Pudding I was teaching my daughter to make when I forgot to add the bananas.
A Roast Beef, Potatoes and Carrots dinner I served to my boss one time when the Carrots had spoiled.
