I love cooking. I love cooking for my boyfriend. I'm told the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. LOL! He's been smiling at me when I'm in the kitchen lately and making little comments "it smells good babe!" At first I thought he was just saying that, until his friend called asking for the recipe. :o)
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking fish, and grilling chicken breasts. I'm just now getting super good at the restaurant style of cooking a steak. Cast iron skillets are a must for any kitchen especially if you cook steaks or make cornbread. I don't fry often but when I do, it's my grandmothers recipe for fried chicken, will post soon.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother's fried chicken and collard greens
My mother's peach cobbler, stewed chicken, and cubed steak
My cousin's potato salad
My Aunt's sweet potato pie (recipe she took to her grave)
My cooking triumphs
My grilled chicken moves mountains (I'm told), and I make a mean steak.
My cooking tragedies
I find that less is more in cooking. I only use salt and pepper on my steaks and a little olive oil. My point is you don't need as much as you may think for something to taste beautifully, or for dishes to have symetry.
