Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
Thank you so much for this great recipe!
PLEASE, READ THIS AND LEARN!
This is the perfect example of a "family recipe card". You can be sure, Grandma NEVER made pancakes by it! It is only a guide for the base of the recipe, to which she likely added unmeasured portions of vanilla, brown sugar, maple extract, blueberries, chocolate chips, etc. Whenever you are given a "family recipe", know that this is ALWAYS the case. People wonder why their attempts to reproduce someone else's fantastic dish fail, even though they followed the recipe exactly; the answer is, no great family recipe is ever written down! "Secret ingredients" are added and, most often, NEVER told to anyone, not even family. You MUST watch grandma and learn for yourself.
When I made this, I added about a teaspoon of vanilla and another tablespoon-ish of brown sugar, just from my own experience of watching others cook. The result: OUTSTANDING! I usually have a mix handy, but did not, today, so I found this recipe, which I will add to my own "family recipe" box. May God give Dakota's grandma a big hug for me.
