Roasted Garlic Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
loved the soup!!!! but I did make changes...roasted the garlic in a foil packet. took about an hour at 350. used only 1 leek and a half onion. also added some shallot. skipped the part about cooking the flour as it was way too dry to do that. only used 3 cups of stock and added a little extra sherry. used low-fat buttermilk instead of whipping cream. garnished w garlic croutons and parmesan. will definitely make again, and probably soon!

Braised Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2012
meat is tender. I only cooked for 35 minutes. used water with a chicken bouillon cube instead of stock. very salty. but tasted great!

Orange Pork

defintely will make again! I cut pork into strips, dredged in flour. sauteed garlic and subbed brown for white sugar. Excellent for how easy it is.

Delicious Easy Chicken Francese

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2006
was ok but amounts are off. too many eggs, too much broth. must add cold water to cornstarch first to avoid lumps. also, up temperature to 350 and bake for longer. as written it's ok but will be much better next time when I make adjustments.

Caramel Turtle Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2005
great concept but if you are going to use a mix why not use actual brownie mix? these tasted more like cake than a brownie. Also required much more baking time than specified. I would NOT make this again but will try the method using BROWNIE mix!

Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2005
Came out juicy and flavorful. Substituted red wine for sherry, onion poweder for minced onion, and used prok chops instead of loin. Only marinated for 5 hours and it was lovely. Don't over-bbq!

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2005
I made this as baked chicken strips. It was a little underwhelming for my tastes, but the kids loved it! I served it with dips of honey and ketchup. I baked it for 25 minutes at 400 (olive oil covering bottom of pan). Then, I poured melted butter all over and baked about 20 minutes more. Will make again.

Grandmother's Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2005
Nice flavor and texture. I subbed choc chips for raisins and nuts. Note - definitely need to grease the pan if usung a cookie mold. I didn't per the instructions and it was a disaster. The ones I baked on a regular sheet came off fine.

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2005
nice glaze but needs to be thinned in order to pour over the cake and flow nicely. I used evaporated milk. I microwaved for 40 seconds, stirring once in the middle.

Lisa's Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2005
this cake is fantastic. yes, it's moist - it has a cup of oil! I used regular sized chips and it was fine. I will make this again and again. does not need frosting, just a dusting of powdered sugar.

Lemon Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2005
I only made the cake portion. Felt like I was cheating using a mix but I knew it would be good. The cake was very moist and had a mellow flavor. It did come out very flat, but that's not as problem. I used lemon cake mix with lemon pudding. I filled with homemade lemon curd and lemon cream cheese icing.

No Bake Cookies VII

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2005
this is super easy and quick. it tastes really good! I tried it our on three preschoolers and they loved it. my only complaint it is too gooey and could be quite a mess. maybe sticking it in the fridge for a few hours would help???

Favorite Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2005
The cake was ok but too dry. The flavor was fine but the texture ruined it for me. I served this at my son's birthday party and I was not pleased. I doubled the recipe but I doubt that would have affected the outcome... ps - I put chocolate chips between the layers and that was a nice touch.

Butter Brickle Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2005
crushed Skor/Heath bars on top a MUST. I added half a bag of butterscotch chips to the batter which gave it more dimension. frosting had real nice flavor. served this as a birthday cake at a small gathering and got rave reveiws! I baked it in a 12" round and it took way longer than 20 minutes. Will make again.

Mint Tea Punch

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
very nice! it's actually over a quart so cut back on the extra water at the end. next time I would add more lemon juice to "kick it up a notch". it is good as is, I think I will serve it at my next party.

Lemon Yogurt Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
yum! I used 2 tsp of lemon juice instead of .5 tsp - next time I will add even more. the mixture of spices is just right. next time I will add oatmeal to make it healthier and give more texture. loved the icing because it was really tart. I added yellow food coloring for a nice effect. the icing was a bit thick so I had to add a tiny bit of water. recipe yielded about 12 muffins. my kids loved them!

quite good but did not have super lemon zing. I did add more zest and juice than specified. really recommend dusting with powered sugar. would be good iced too, I am sure.
