Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
Not real spicy, but nice flavor. Needed a bit more flour to roll it out. Will keep for maing cookies with the grandchildren cause they were fun to frost!

Honey-Topped Sweet Potato

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
You don't even have to bake these in the oven if you don't plan on eating the skin. Just pop in the micro--same delicious flavor! And you can have them year round and not heat up the house.

Creole Tuna

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
Way too much tuna flavor--it overpowered. I used white albacore in water , so it wasn't a cheap tuna! Will not make again.

Savory Chicken Livers with Sweet Peppers and Onions

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2009
My husband said this was very good. I sprinkled lime juice instead of lemon juice in place of the sumac because he likes the taste of limes better than lemons, especially when cooked. I don't like liver of any kind so I'm rating this on his sayso!

Salmon Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
I didn't have fresh mushrooms, so I substituted 2 4oz cans drained well. Everything else as recipe stated and it was very nice. Served with Tomato pie II from this site. Good combo according to those who ate the supper!

Tomato Pie II

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2009
Very nice dish! If you use Roma tomatoes and take out the seeds, you should not have a soupy mixture like some reviewers had happen. I served this with the Salmon Pie I recipe from this site. Both were very good and a big hit with those partaking of the meal!

Pistachio Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
This recipe should read: DO NOT make according to pkg directions. You just mix the pudding with the cool whip! I've made this for years and it never comes out soupy if you do it that way.

Crab Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
Very good, but I used fat free 1/2 & 1/2, Cheddar instead of Monterey Jack, a few more shakes of Tabasco and REAL CRAB. Since I was making another (spinach) quiche to go with this that did not call for baking the crust for 10 minutes first, I didn't do that. Both crusts were delicious and flaky. Another keeper!!!

Salmon Avocado Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Pretty good, but I added another big tomato and used pickled Jalapenos (about 2 TBSP)instead of fresh because my fresh ones are still on the vine. My avocado was a big one also. Put a bunch of arugula in with the lettuce to give it a more peppery flavor as well. Will make again!

Shrimp Verde

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
it is easy, but as others suggested I changed this to give it some umpf--therefore the rating. I used tons more garlic, garlic chives for half the parsley and cayenne pepper sprinkled over all. Then it was pretty tasty!

Classic Red Velvet Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
I followed this to a T and it was absolutely delicious! And it was as red as advertised. Possibly a little drier than the Hershey's recipe from this site, but I could get this out of the pan!!! (see my review of the Hershey one)

Chocolate Chow Mein Clusters

Yum! But if you double (or quadruple the recipe!!) and melt the chips in the microwave, still do only a cup at a time. Very easy, delicious, classic recipe.

Apple Beet Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
My husband gave this rating and I agreed with him. Kind of like a waldorf salad, but purplish after it sits overnight in the frig! I used fresh beets that I cooked myself instead of canned ones. Next time I will try the blue cheese addition as another viewer suggested because we love that too.

Happy Holiday Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
As another reveiwer suggested, I used 2 whole eggs instead of the egg substitute and left out the heavy cream altogether. This was a very good pumpkin pie. A bit different in consistency than my normal recipe, but still good. The people I served it to enjoyed it and only my mother knew it was not my normal recipe! I made 4 of these for Thanksgiving for my diabetic friends so they were sure to have a dessert that day! BUT DO NOT FREEZE!!! It retains the water from freezing and is absolutely horrible!

Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
I followed this recipe exactly. No one knew it was made with Splenda and I didn't tell them. Everybody raved about the pecan pie and I just said thank you! I'll make another one for Christmas and get the same raves I'm sure.

I've been using this since 2003 when I found it on this site. Don't use anything else! And I don't know why I never rated it!!!
