Real Hungarian Goulash (No Tomato Paste Here)

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2015
These are the same ingredients my Hungarian family uses but cooks a little differently. My Mom tosses the beef in a little flour seasoned with salt, pepper and a little paprika then browns it before adding the onions. This would thicken the sauce a little as it cooked She would also sometimes add a beef bouillion cube if it was handy. I agree that tomato sauce has no place in this dish.

Kielbasa Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2012
This was great! The only changes I made were to keep the cabbage in small chunks and add cubed potatoes to make it a complete meal. I always use low salt broth when cooking so I can control the added salt.

Beer Burgers

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2012
I've used this recipe without the onion and really liked it. To get the burgers to hold together I form the patties and put them on a platter in the freezer for about 45 mins. to a hour then put directly on the grill. Brown well on one side before flipping.

Stuffed Zucchini with Chicken Sausage

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
I love this recipe! I'll use small yellow squash or zucchini so everyone gets a whole squash and at the end of baking I will melt a slice of provolone or mozzerella over each. Add crusty bread and a glass of vino and you have a meal!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
This was excellent. I took others' advice and used 1 tbls. milk in place of water. Because we have sugar issues I also cut the white sugar in half and measured brown sugar unpacked. No one noticed. The chocolate chips and peanut butter made these cookies sweet enough.

Greek Penne and Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
This was very good. Also, good with shrimp. The only thing I added was a little Greek seasoning while sauteing the chicken.

Chicken Noodle Salad with Peanut-Ginger Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
I loved this recipe! I actually tripled the dressing amount and added lime juice instead of broth and more hot pepper flakes. The leftover dressing was great on tossed salad.

Mom's Turkey Sausage Patties

Reviewed: May 8, 2010
This recipe is fabulous! I doubled spices as others suggested and add thyme and also a little water to keep them moist as my sausage-maker Dad used to do. I've had people say that they would never eat pork sausage again if they could always have these.

Roasted Easter Ham

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
I used this on a half bone-in ham for Easter and it was delicious. I also scored the ham before baking and rubbed with some spices the night before.

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
This recipe was the easiest! I did chill the mixture 1 hour before forming into balls. I also made some with a white chocolate dip and some Christmasy sprinkles. Chocolate and cream cheese...what's not to like!!

Crispy Rosemary Chicken and Fries

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
This had great flavor but my potatoes and chicken were not crispy after 1 hour. I increased the heat to 425F for an additional 15 minutes. Next time I will start at a higher heat. I like crispy chicken.

Creamy Butternut Squash With Cinnamon Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
Terrific recipe. Creamy and a little spicy. I didn't use as much cinnamon as the recipe called for and the soup was still flavorful and spicy. Will definitely make this again.

This was really good. I added a chopped bell pepper and minced fresh garlic with the onion and didn't drain the tomatoes for extra sauce. Good leftover too.

This was delicious! I did take the easy way and used a packaged cornbread stuffing and added the cheese. It looked very elegant on the serving platter.
