Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2011
Winner! Used leftover Christmas turkey & Pillsbury piecrusts. Per previous reviewers & personal taste, added poultry seasoning & doubled the sauce (a tad too much, so will increase original recipe by 50% next time.) Did not prebake bottom crust & it was perfect, not soggy. Thanks, Robbie!

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Had leftover heavy cream from another (failed) recipe, so did a search & found this one. Had my doubts, but it is a WINNER! Quick, easy & tasted like heaven. :) Thank you, Linda!!

Grilled Gyro Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
Very similar to an old Detroit area restaurant's "Middle Eastern" that I've made for years (looked to see if anyone had an "official" recipe). Differences? Brown the ground beef as filling (not burger) with your favorite seasoning and scoop into pita pocket. Top with plain chopped/seeded cucumber, tomato, green onions and ranch dressing. For some reason, the flavors work!

Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
OMGosh. We usually rotisserie our T-day turkey & it comes out tasty, but thought to try brining this year for the heck of it. OMGosh. You could cut the breast meat with a fork it was so tender, juicy, flavorful! As mentioned, it also cooked faster on a rotisserie, so worked well it let it rest & rotate without heat the last 1/2 hr before carving. Thank you!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2010
Have enjoyed this recipe for years (with minor variations as mentioned by others) but accidently stumbled on a new favorite version: I only had soft onion & chive cream cheese on hand so gave it a whirl. Best ever - give it a try!

Cavatini I

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
Gave this a "4" ONLY because of our personal preferences (felt it needed more pasta, some garlic and the chicken was lost in the final results). But still totally enjoyable and a great base to "tweak"! Thank you.

Marinated Flank Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
After having this (yet again!) tonight, updating my March review: We grill this every week or so and it's truly addicting! Unfortunately, this week's heat wave made grilling uncomfortable, so after marinating, it was thrown in the freezer. Thawed & grilled it today and was even MORE tender and flavorful!! ************** I'd attempted flank steak only once before & it was a disaster - as it was a "two-for", we tried THIS recipe on the second steak. OUTSTANDING! Going into our regular rotation. Thanks!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2005
I did the oven version and it was just like mom used to make. Husband said (3 times!) it was the best stuffing ever. Can't wait to try the slow cooker method for the next big family dinner.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2005
Major yum! As per suggestions, I used red wine instead of water, left out the salt & used no-boil lasagna sheets. Since I had extra noodles & cheese, I used 1/3 more ricotta & mozzarella and made an extra layer (there was adequate sauce). This made for a dryer/firmer lasagna, which we prefer over those that are "saucier". Thanks, John!

Basic Microwave Risotto

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2005
Wow - I love risotto but too lazy to make it the authentic way - this is a wonderful substitute and will go on my weekly rotation. Went well with the Vienna Schnitzel receipe (from this site). Thanks!

Best Beef Dip Ever

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
A winner! I added onions & only 1/2 the soy sauce, as that's what I had on hand ;) Husband enjoyed the au jus so much he requested beef barley soup from the leftovers (added some water, barley, mixed veggies & mushrooms - major yum!)

Beef Bourguignon I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2005
One of the best recipes I've ever tried! The taste certainly lived up to the *incredible* aroma. IS a bit time-consuming, but will take other reviewers' advice and merely double batches for freezing. Thanks!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2004
A winner! We prefer more spicy, so added some cumin. As there are only two of us, I made one casserole (with yummy leftovers), froze another, and froze excess filling for future use. Think I will use corn tortillas next time with excess filling (personally prefer the taste of corn, but found they don't freeze well in casserole form).

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2003
I made a "test" 6-serving batch before making it for a picnic. I found dressing the salad before serving made it seem a bit "oily", but the next day it was knockout! I did take care not to overcook the pasta, and added some vidalia onion.
