Basic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2014
The only thing we changed is we added garlic to the butter and mashed ours in the kitchen aid mixer. We used whole organic milk. The potatoes taste as good as the whipped potatoes at high end restaurants. Highly recommend this easy to make recipe!! We used Klondike Rose potatoes (red skin golden flesh bought at target). Enjoy!!

Chicken Katsu

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2012
We love this recipe!! We use egg beaters instead of an egg and I make sure I use a fork and make sure I use the fork to press the panko crumbs onto the chicken. This seems to make the coating stick better. Highly recommend. Even my two young boys love this recipe! We like to add rice and sweet and sour sauce.

Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2012
This is our favorite crepe recipe. It took a time or two to figure out how exactly to make the perfect crepe but you will get it. I had to learn to spread it thin, I can't use soy milk and I needed a perfect size frying pan to create them in. Also you need to either add all the ingredients and mix, or add all the wet and then sift in the flour. You do NOT want to mix in flour and egg and then add the other ingredients or it will make the batter lumpy. You want it watery! Also we always add vanilla extract to ours. It gives it a nice flavor.

Herb Batter Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2011
I made this in the bread machine on basic like another user suggested and added a little garlic salt and reduced the regular salt by 1/4 tsp. The bread turned out great. The middle fell and a friend said to reduce the yeast so next time I'll use 2tsp instead of 2 1/4 tsp. This had wonderful flavor and would make a nice side to a dinner with herbed chicken, 40 clove chicken or the like.

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2011
Quick to fix, tastes very good! I'd recommend the couscous cooked with chicken broth to go with the pork...

We used Linguini instead of spaghetti. I added some parmesan cheese but also a little asiago, and added onion, garlic and 1/4 cup mushrooms. Used leftover turkey. This turned out wonderful! Will will definitely make this again next time we have leftover turkey!

Country Fried Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
This is wonderful. My husband and I prefer McCormick Country Gravy on top. Followed this recipe exactly except used egg beaters instead of egg and milk. Make sure to press the coating on like it says. Turned out wonderful. Husband said it was like restaurant quality!

These turned out great. Deboneing the canned salmon was the biggest pain while making this recipe. Kids and husband loved it.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
My husband raved about this recipe and told me to throw out our old cordon bleu recipe. He liked it originally without the cream sauce on top and I told him he forgot about the sauce and he was afraid to add it for fear it would ruin the flavor. He did make the cream sauce after all and loved it. He said the best part was having a 1/2 bottle of wine leftover after making it! :) My husband actually made the recipe for me and said it is very easy to make too. Even better!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2009
I took the advice of others and we bought a really inexpensive roast. It was 3lbs and about $3.50 and it was a butt roast. Instead of putting it in the crockpot on high, I started it in the morning and put it on low for 8 hours. Usually when you do this the meat falls apart a LOT easier than if you were to cook it fast on high. We used Cattleman's BBQ and my husband RAVED about them. I really enjoyed these too. So simple! We only put them in the oven for 10 minutes instead of 30 for fear it would dry out the roast.

Brisket with BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
If six stars were available, we'd rate it that. This was amazing. We turned these into BBQ Beef sandwiches. We have a food chain down here called Dickey's BBQ and the sandwiches taste identical. We used Eye of Round and we put ours in the crock pot. I added maybe about a 1/4 cup of beef broth at the bottom of the crock so the moisture would tenderize the beef and it wouldn't burn down. After it was done cooking, we removed the liquid and discarded it and shredded the beef, put back in the crockpot and then added the sauce to the beef. We let it go for about 30 more minutes. I accidentally forgot to put the mustard in the sauce and it was great without it. We also substituted garlic salt for celery salt. My husband couldn't even wait to get to the table to start to eat his. This is going on our permanent recipe rotation. YUM!

Romano Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
We loved this recipe. It was wonderful. We cooked everything as directed except on one we tried it with provolone cheese (it was all we had left) and we liked that better than the swiss. We'll use provolone next time. Great recipe.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
We LOVED this chili. We did not add the celery or peppers (my husband hates them). The other things we modified is that we used about 2 1/2 lbs of beef - 1 pound of beef, 1 pound of ground turkey and 1 lb of sausage. We only had three cans of kidney beans and this worked out fine. We will definitely be making this chili again. It calls for a LOT of ingredients - but it's worth it!

Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2007
I wanted spaghetti - was out of the jarred stuff so I made this. I didn't have diced tomatoes so I got a few cans of stewed and pureed them. I did what the other user did and added italian seasoning. I did 2 tsp basil, 2 tsp oregano and 1 tsp of italian seasoning. I also added some meatballs. I left the rest of the recipe the same and it came out excellent. Thanks for helping me figure out how to make sauce last minute!
