Greek Garlic-Lemon Potatoes

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
These potatoes are awesome! They are better than ones served in a Greek restaurant. The only thing I substituted was extra virgin olive oil for the vegetable oil. I also didn't have any fresh parsley, so I just added a little dried parsley. You have to try this recipe. Thanks for submitting.

Mississippi Six

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2006
This was an awesome new appetizer I introduced into the family. As per others' advice, I cooked in the microwave for a few minutes before baking to cut down on baking time. Not the healthiest treat, but delicious!

Peanut Butter Cookies IX

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2006
These were very tasty and everyone liked them. My only problem with them was when I was making them, it was really difficult for the dough to stay together. It kept falling apart and was in pieces. Anyone have any advice on what I could do differently next time?

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2006
My husband raved that this was the best apple pie he's ever had! Due to skill and lack of time, I skipped the lattice crust and just put on a full crust. I poured the sugar/butter mixture over the apples directly and reserved a little to pour on top of the crust. I made four cuts in the crust so the pie could breathe, and it turned out great. I also made my crusts from scratch which may have helped, but this is a truly awesome recipe.

Jeff's Chili Con Queso

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2006
It tastes very similar to a recipe that has been in our family for years, but our recipe is a lot easier to make. Ours calls for 1 lb of Velveeta Mild Mexican, cut up in cubes, one can of chili w/ no beans, and a can of diced green chilis (optional). Put all ingredients in a microwave safe dish and microwave in 2 minute intervals, stopping to stir, until melted. Total microwave time is usually 5 minutes. Enjoy!

Caramel Apple Pie II

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2005
This was fabulous & I've made apple pie several times several different ways. The only things I did different were I added 6 cups of sliced apples, & sprinkled a tiny bit of sugar on the crust after brushing it with milk. The reason for more apples is the apples flatten about an inch or so during baking, and I was always left with a flat looking pie before I started adding an extra cup. The sugar on the crust was just to add a pretty finish. Great recipe. Thanks for sharing.

Roast Leg of Lamb with Rosemary

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
Excellent recipe! Everyone I made it for absolutely loved it. I made gravy from the pan drippings, but didn't even need it. The lamb was so moist & flavorful. A great dish I will be making often.

Garlic Feta Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2005
It had great flavor, but no one touched it at my party. It was way too runny & thin & didn't make a great dip. I would probably try it as a sauce to some Greek pork or chicken entrees, as recommended by some others. As far as a dip or appetizer goes, it was a flop, at least for me.

Hot Fudge Ice Cream Bar Dessert

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2005
A great & easy dessert recipe. Like the previous review said, I also used a 16 oz jar of hot fudge sauce which made it hard to spread over the whip cream, so had to switch layers which resulted with whip cream on the top.

Carnation® Quiche Lorraine

Reviewed: May 11, 2005
I made quite a few dishes for a Mother's Day brunch, but this was the only thing that was completely gone, with several people commenting how good it was. I made my own pie crust instead of buying one, and added a little more swiss cheese on the top. Great quiche recipe.

Creamy Coconut Cake

Reviewed: May 11, 2005
My husband LOVES coconut, so he absolutely loved this cake. One of my guests thought it was way too sweet, & I could see where he was coming from, but if you like coconut & you like things sweet, you will love this recipe.

Brie Cheese Appetizer

Reviewed: May 11, 2005
I've made this twice now. Once with the apricot preserves & once with peach preserves. I also use way more than 3 Tablespoons, probably more like 6 Tablespoons, so I have enough to cover the wheel. I've only had to use one puff pastry sheet each time and I added toasted slivered almonds to the top to make it look nicer. Good stuff.

Golden Rum Cake

Reviewed: May 11, 2005
This cake was super rummmy tasting, but everybody loved it. I got asked for the recipe from a few people. My husband who isn't a big cake eater loved it and wanted me to make more. I took Jackie's advice how to glaze it at the top of the recipe. It worked out great.

Strawberry, Kiwi, and Spinach Salad

Reviewed: May 11, 2005
Excellent recipe. I didn't add the kiwis because I couldn't find them at 3 stores(maybe out of season?). I added crumbled feta cheese & toasted pine nuts in place of the walnuts & everyone thought it was great. Super easy, too.

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

I made this for a Mother's Day brunch and everybody loved it. Instead of using ham, I added 8 oz. of chopped onions. It turned out great.

Chicken Satay

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2005
As per the advice of others, I diluted the soy sauce & lime juice with water by 1/2. It was still so very overpowering. I kept adding brown sugar & peanut butter to sweeten it up. I also omitted curry powder since my husband hates it. We didn't miss it. I also made another batch for dipping sauce. I also grilled the skewers on my George Foreman, & they turned out great.

Slow Cook Thai Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2005
It was good, but like others also noted, it needed something. I actually added garlic chili sauce (found in the asian aisle) to it to spice it up some more. My husband also found it weird to be served with rice instead of thai noodles. If I make it again, I will replace the rice with thai noodles & spice it up some more. I also was in a time crunch so I cooked it in 1/2 the time w/the crockpot setting on high.

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2004
I thought they were very good. I bought the Grand flaky biscuits and actually quartered them. I doubled the recipe to bring to a X-Mas Party. Everybody liked them, but I guess after reading all the previous reviews, I was hoping for everyone to love them and go crazy for them. I didn't get the reaction I was hoping for. I'll probably make them again- this time for a different crowd.

Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2003
Excellent recipe. I followed the advice of some others and added more coffee and rum and quickly dipped the lady fingers into the mixture. For the cocoa powder, I used a sifter, too. It looked just like a restaurant, but tasted so much better than one.

Parmesan Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2003
Excellent flavor. My husband really liked the rosemary in it. I only had 1 1/2 sticks of butter and the recipe calls for 2 sticks. With just the 1 1/2 sticks, it was too much butter. I think you only need around 1 stick. I also used freshly grated parmesan cheese and added about 2-3 Tablespoons to the mix. Great variation to Garlic Bread.
