Easy Spicy Mexican-American Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2014
Woah this is spicy! I had 8 chicken thighs and doubled the sauce. BUT I only put in 1/2 tbsp. cayenne pepper. I couldn't imagine it full strength. I also always pull the skin off before baking. I thought it turned out delicious, but the fiancé thought it was too spicy. (After the first two bites, he went to the bathroom and grabbed a prilosec!) Served it with Spicy Spanish Style Rice by Chef John from this site. A great supper!

Delilah's Frosted Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
These cookies aren't too bad. I made another batch, "Thick Cut Out Cookies" from this site, and I prefer them as they aren't as sweet as these cookies. Don't get me wrong, these cookies taste good, just my preference! This dough was very easy to work with.

Thick Cut-Outs

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
Just like the description says.....big soft sugar cookies! I cut the recipe in half because I didn't want 75 cookies like the serving states. After halving it, I ended up with only 25 cookies! But they are delicious. I live in SD and temps have been -10 to -20 during the day, so I set my dough outside 7 min to chill. The dough was a little on the hard side, oops!, but oh so easy to work with. I've frosted them and ate 3 cookies already. YUM! I can see where adding almond extract would be a delicious enhancer-might try that next time. Thanks for the great recipe and Merry Christmas!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2013
Holy cow are these good! I don't have a bread machine so I followed the following advice from ANDYTAMI..."Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk in a large bowl. Mix in the sugar, margarine, salt, and eggs. Add flour and mix well. Knead the dough into a large ball, using your hands dusted lightly with flour. Put in a bowl, cover and let rise in a warm place about 1 hour, or until doubled in size. Then pick up with rolling out the dough." This was very helpful and the rolls turned out delicious! I used butter instead of margarine because I always buy butter. Very very good!! Thanks for this keeper recipe!

Chicken Chimichangas with Sour Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2013
absolutely loved this recipe! I took the advice of other reviewers and doubled the spices, but still used 3 cups water. I have a ton of jalapenos from my garden so used them in place of the chilies. Used sharp cheddar cheese because that's what I had on hand. Instead of frying (which I'm sure they'd be delicious!) I tried to save a few calories and brushed them with olive oil and baked for 15 min at 425. Served on a bed of lettuce with the sour cream sauce and sprinkled more cheese on top. DELISH!!!

Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2013
This was a great recipe to use up peppers from my garden! I used 4 red peppers, 2 orange, and 1 green. Used Coors Light since that's what we drink. Our local grocery store makes their own Italian sausage so I bought 2 rings of it. Also used 1 tbsp each of dried oregano and parsley since that's what I had on hand. Overall a delicious recipe! Served with garlic toast. Thanks so much :)

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2013
Delicious soup! I added in carrots because I had some to use up. Next time I think I will add frozen green beans I froze this summer from my garden. I left the salt out. I was afraid with all the chicken bouillon and ham it would be way to salty. And c`mon, us Americans have way more than our fair share of salt on a daily basis anyways! Overall a great soup and a nice way to use of leftover ham....thanks!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2013
YUM!! These brownies turned out great! I followed the recipe exactly except for the frosting. When mixing the frosting, it was quite dry and powdery and not turning into frosting when mixing it. I added a capful and a half of milk using the milk jug lid. (I doubled everything in the recipe as I made 2 8x8 pans) That did the trick and the frosting turned out great. I made these this morning for my boyfriends bday and he loves them. Turned out like a chewy fudgy brownie. Thanks for the great recipe!

YUM! this turned out wonderful and is easy to make. I followed the directions directly as written. I was afraid it would be WAAAY salty. It was a bit on the salty side, but not unbearable I thought. Served over egg noodles. Will difinately be making this again!

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2012
WOW! this is the BEST banana cake EVER!! I tried to lighten it up a bit. I used 1/4 cup applesauce and 1/2 cup butter for the batter. For the frosting I used 5 tbsp butter. Also used reduced fat cream cheese, otherwise followed the recipe as written. It is super moist MMM MMM MMM! I keep in the fridge beings it has cream cheese frosting and I think it tastes even better cold! Thanks so much for this delicious recipe :)

Beef Stew with Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2012
this turned out pretty good. I did make a few changes tho. I left out the green pepper and mushrooms and used peas. I substitued beef broth for the water. And I used the herbed dumpling recipe from this site. Instead of simmering the meat and bay leaf and then adding the carrots, celery, etc after an hour of simmering, I tossed everything together right away and let it simmer. A nice hearty meal for this dreary day....thanks!

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2012
MMMMMM! what a delicious recipe! I used a vanilla wafer crust: 40 crushed wafers, 1/4 cup melted butter, and approx 2 tbsp sugar....mix together and baked 350 for 9 min. I did use 3 tbsp cornstarch in place of flour, 1/2 and 1/2 instead of milk, and 1 tbsp vanilla. I also didn't bake it like like others suggested. I'm adding this to my collection of recipes. Thanks!

Chicken With Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2012
I thought this was very very good! I didn't have sliced mozzarela cheese so I sprinkled some shredded on instead. I did use a can of reduced fat cream of mushroom soup and mixed it with the chicken broth like others suggested. I didn't precook the mushrooms like others said. I thought the mushrooms baked nicely in the chicken broth sauce. Served over linguine with bread sticks. YUUUUM! PS: my co-workers raved about how good the leftovers looked :) Thanks!

Green Grape Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2012
I have never heard of this salad until a girl I work with brought it too lunch. So I got on here and found this recipe. It is YUMMY!!!! I used the reduced fat cream cheese and reduced fat sour cream. I also used 1/2 green grapes and 1/2 red grapes. The gal I work with had toasted almonds in hers so I used almonds instead. Overall, very good. I will definately keep this recipe. Thanks!

Chicken Quesadillas

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2012
This was easy and delicious! I changed the directions a bit. I boiled 3 chicken breasts in water-i sprinkled some chicken boullion in. once cooled, i shredded the meat, added the fajita seasoning, and veggies and cooked until veggies were soft. I left the bacon bits out. Instead of folding the toritllas in half, I topped 4 tortillas with the mixture then placed another tortilla on top. I took the advice of others to wet the tortillas for to get a cripsy crunch. It worked for the top, but the bottom was still soggy. I think a george foreman or quesadilla maker would work much better! Served with sour cream and I made a black bean and corn salad as a sidedish

Scott Hibb's Amazing Whisky Grilled Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2012
great recipe!! i baked the ribs for 1 1/2 hours instead of 2 1/2 as I was afraid they would get overdone and be dry. was a little bit spicey for us, so next time I will cut back on the ground red chili pepper. We had quite a bit of sauce left over, so we grilled some chicken breasts the next day and used the sauce. overall a tasty recipe-thanks! YUM!

Easy and Delicious Chicken and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2012
YUM! I thought this recipe turned out great. Instead of sprinkling the onion soup on top of the chicken, I mixed it in with the cream of chicken soup and water. I love how quick and easy this recipe is and I had all the ingredients on hand. Took me literally 3 minutes to get it ready! Will definately make again. Thanks for the quick delicious recipe!
