About this Cook
Daring. Shy. Curious. Intuitive. Happy. Thoughtful. Sympathetic. Determined. Impatient. Courteous. Impulsive. Romantic. Hopeful. In addition to all that I've been married 25 years and soon to be an empty-nester. I work part time at a food testing facility, write unpublished romance novels, and dream of running my own wedding consultant business.
My favorite things to cook
Cupcakes! I love those little individual sized creations. There is no end to the possibilities of flavor and embelleshment combinations. I've catered a few small weddings and graduation parties and people often tell me I should go into business. Right now cooking is more of a "jobbie" - a hobby I can pretend to make money on. I'm currently playing with my new donut pan and working on perfect donut recipe.
My favorite family cooking traditions
It all starts with comfort food from moms and grandmothers doesn't it? I like all the old favorites, I try to make them the best they can be. I strive to use the best igredients I can get my hands on. I'm not all about making everything as healthy as it could be -- it is all about the flavor to me. I'd rather have a little bit of something that tastes amazing than a lot of something that is a near miss.
My cooking triumphs
Several years ago a made a bunch of cupcakes and brought them to work. One of them made its way to the executive building down the street and into the office of the company CEO. He later stopped by my office personally to offer to pay me to make them for his daughter's wedding shower. He'd never had a red velvet cupcake before and thought it was the best thing he ever ate.
My cooking tragedies
Ahh, when you love to experiment the tragedies are many. Cupcakes are hard to mess up but if they are over or under baked they cannot be salvaged. I've also made a few serious miscalculations of spice combinations in main dishes when getting a little wild with the spice rack. Live and learn.

Chicken In Basil Cream
Great flavor on this. Using fresh basil really makes a difference. I doubled the sauce and skipped the pimento peppers (family doesn't like them). I've even made this with pork and it is always a hit.

Chicken Thigh and Dumpling Stew
This really has a good flavor. Everyone in the family loved it. There is a lot of prep work involved in the chopping but it is worth it. I'll be making this again and again.

Slow Cooker Tender and Yummy Round Steak
The steak is certainly tender. I made exactly as recipe called for and family liked it. For my family I'll need to spice it up just a bit to get them to LOVE it. Still, this is a great basic recipe.
