About this Cook
I designed my own home, AROUND my new kitchen, where I spend most of my time. I love trying new recipes and I have a family that doesnt mind being guinea pigs (thank goodness!).
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy serving up good ole down-home country cookin' the best. Its what gets the biggest raves. But for myself, I love Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Im in heaven when Im baking up sweet goodies to share with friends and family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year my best friend comes to visit me in November and we spend two days making all our favorite cookie and candy recipes. Then we each take half of what the other made so that we have a huge variety of goodies for the holidays. We used to include the kids when they were little. My kitchen was a mess at the end, but I have memories to last a lifetime.
My cooking triumphs
My best cooking triumph was winning a chili cook-off at the office years ago. I made my own recipe, which I call Vermont Chili. It has real maple syrup in it, so it starts out a little on the sweet side when you first taste it, but then the slow burn comes afterwards. Maybe Ill post the recipe someday!
My cooking tragedies
I was a newlywed and knew my hubby loved meatloaf. I'd never made one, so I found a recipe in my cookbook and proceeded to mix it up. To this very day, I don't know what I did wrong, but after the first bite, we literally POURED it out! Ive since found the Rempel Family Meatloaf recipe on this website and Im sticking to it!

Caramelized Frog Legs
ROCK YOUR SOCKS OFF, FOR SURE! Definitely marinate for at least an hour! I used an egg-flour-egg-Panko crumb coating on ours. Awesome! So crunchy and tender! Time is approximate: it depends on your exact cooking temperature and the size of the frog legs. Mine were Jumbo, and took about 3 minutes per each of the four sides (if you only turn them once, they will take longer per side). I like them browned all over. Triple the sauce, use 1/3 to marinate (throw this away after use) Use other 2/3rds to make dipping sauce by adding cornstarch, a little at a time. Will ABSOLUTELY make again and again!

Italian Beef Sandwiches
When I come across this recipe As I flip through My Recipe Box, my mouth litteraly waters, EVERY time! Rump roasts can sometimes be a little tough and flavorless, but not so in this recipe! I made Au Jus and then placed the meat on hoagie rolls, with Pepper Jack cheese and sliced it diagonally for dipping. Yummmm!
