About this Cook
I designed my own home, AROUND my new kitchen, where I spend most of my time. I love trying new recipes and I have a family that doesnt mind being guinea pigs (thank goodness!).
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy serving up good ole down-home country cookin' the best. Its what gets the biggest raves. But for myself, I love Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Im in heaven when Im baking up sweet goodies to share with friends and family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year my best friend comes to visit me in November and we spend two days making all our favorite cookie and candy recipes. Then we each take half of what the other made so that we have a huge variety of goodies for the holidays. We used to include the kids when they were little. My kitchen was a mess at the end, but I have memories to last a lifetime.
My cooking triumphs
My best cooking triumph was winning a chili cook-off at the office years ago. I made my own recipe, which I call Vermont Chili. It has real maple syrup in it, so it starts out a little on the sweet side when you first taste it, but then the slow burn comes afterwards. Maybe Ill post the recipe someday!
My cooking tragedies
I was a newlywed and knew my hubby loved meatloaf. I'd never made one, so I found a recipe in my cookbook and proceeded to mix it up. To this very day, I don't know what I did wrong, but after the first bite, we literally POURED it out! Ive since found the Rempel Family Meatloaf recipe on this website and Im sticking to it!

Juiciest Hamburgers Ever
I tried this recipe and followed it to the letter. I agree with one rater, who said they were moist, but not juicy. They did remind my hubby of meatloaf. You just can't improve on ground chuck or sirloin burgers cooked properly.

Cheddar Bay Biscuits
These were good, but not quite as flavorful as Red Lobster. I still give it five stars, because the texture was perfect and the recipe, as written, is a good "jumping-off" point. I made them a second time and used chicken broth for 1/2 of the liquid and milk for the other half. I used about 6 ounces of shredded cheddar, and a pinch of sea salt in the mix. I also put 1/8 tsp of garlic powder and 1/8 tsp parsley in the mix (in addition to parsley and garlic that go in butter mixture. Thanks, Cookie!
