Braised Flank Steak with Lemon and Garlic

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2013
As an alternative to braising....try marinating for a few hours and grilling. So so tender and full of flavor. I bought the pack of flap steaks from Costco. line them up in a baking dish to season and marinate. Use black magic seasoning salt, onion powder, garlic powder and olive oil. Turn over with tongs and do the same. Season generously. i let them marinate for 4 hours.....then grill to med or med rare. Totally surprised at how tender and deish they are!!! Seve with corn on the cob, arugula, cranberry and brie salad and twice baked. stuffed!

Broccoli Casserole II

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2012
I agree with a few others....however is probably our fault! I did not use the processed cheese but rather shredded my own. Smelled great but lacked that punch. If you dont "follow the recipe", you will need to add some salt, pepper, and garlic!

Creamy Shrimp Scampi

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
I must have just done something wrong...the dream made the whole mixture curdle, which I had hoped would dissolve. The taste was pretty so I just kept adding red pepper, mushrooms, garlic salt..but nothing seemed to help the flavor. However, I let it sit while eating my salad and veggies, it seemed to taste better. I was so excited for this, but like I said it could have been something I did based on all the good reviews. I am not a "measurer"..lol

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2010
This was soooo yummy!!! I could have just eaten that for dinner. I actually had a "steam in the bag" broccoli which made this even easier! I cant wait to have this for company. Just uutstanding and I bet it would also be great on green beans. Thanks for a great change my regular steamed broccoli!

Chicken with Brie and Caramelized Onions

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
Great as is ....Just to offer a lighter twist and to stretch the budget out.....Rather than breading the chicken and then topping the chicken with another piece... try one piece ( not breaded) , add raspberry preserves over the brie and chicken and wrap in phyllo. Light and yummy. You can even use poached chicken and sugar free preserves to be a little more healthy! Thanks for sharing!

Sausage Balls

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
This recipe tastes so much better using xtra sharp vermont white cheddar as opposed to the cheddar soup. Also, sage sausage adds a very nice flavor I have found that I always shorten the cooking time by 2-3 minutes as they harden up after taking them out. Soooo good!!!

Rock Salt Roast Prime Rib

hubby loved it- cooked perfectly and was very tender....crust formed on top but not bottom.....even when I took the crust off...I just felt myself retaining water!!! It was very salty. I think it might be great with less salt and maybe some garlic though

Bacon Wrapped Barbeque Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2009
only reason I gave this four stars is because I had to use sweet baby rays bbq sauce rather than BBQ seasoning! I also stuffed in some blue cheese before rolling on the bacon. I went for a full slice on each large shrimp and I dont think I would change that...more the enjoy!! So..pre cook the bacon a bit for sure...clean the shrimp, brush with bbq sauce, stuff some blue cheese in the back, wrap with full piece of bacon and toothpick it! I brushed a tiny bit more of the sauce on top- in oven at 450...about 5 minutes tops! DELISH! I really wish I hade more! Yummmmmyyyy.

Pan Fried Halibut Steak with Light Green Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
I think I messed this up by worrying that the sauce was too thin...when in fact is should have been. I thickened with flour at the end..so my sauce was gloppy. Also- I used lemon juice as I did not have a lemon...and I think I was too conservative with it. Still- fish was perfectly cooked and sauce was great...I just think it would have been better had I followed the directions! Be sure to double the sauce!

Southern Fried Cabbage

I used pre shredded cabbage...so simple! Was just delicious! I would double the bacon and throw another pinch of sugar in... just remove a little of the bacon grease if necessary so its crispy and not soggy.
