Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Substituted half of the bread flour for whole wheat (I actually substituted in a little wheat germ too, but my crust was a tad more biscuity than my ultimate preference, and I'm thinking that's why). Also substituted garlic salt for salt. Kindof forgot the olive oil altogether. I added dried Italian spices and a little carraway, too. The flavor was magnificent...and so aromatic!!! On the pizza itself I mostly used ingredients in my kitchen that really needed to be cooked up or eaten soon: 5 or six cloves of chopped garlic, onion, very ripe tomatoes, the greens leftover from my radishes, kalamata olive spread, fresh basil from the garden, fried and chopped up bacon pieces and bleu cheese scattered all over the top with what was left of my tiny bit of parmesan. Overall, the pizza was FABULOUS!!! I only give the crust four stars because it looked a little plain without the substitutes (though it was a great, basic recipe to doctor up).

Fresh Rhubarb Pie

I got fresh rhubarb in my farm share last week, but only enough for half of this recipe. So, I pulled out my muffin tins and saw how many mini pies I could make with this recipe cut in half. It made a perfect dozen mini deep-dish pies and they were spectacular!!!! I used "Mom's Pie Crust" recipe from this site without the sugar mixed in, but with a little of the flour-sugar mixture from this recipe sprinkled on top. It was the perfect compliment to the rhubarb filling. Everyone who tried them asked for more!

Roasted Root Vegetables With Apple Juice

Unfortunately, this recipe did nothing for me. The apple juice seemed like a great way to sweeten up the root veggies, but the added wine made them almost sour tasting. A similar effect could have been achieved by dousing them all in apple cider vinegar.
