Raspberry Lemon Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2003
ok. I used frozen blackberries, which must have been larger, because they took much longer to bake. Also, the berries were very, very sour. The muffins weren't very lemony, and had a sort of rubbery texture. All in all, they were ok, and I will definitely try them again.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2003
Deliciously buttery and slightly sweet-- reminded me of King's Hawiian bread. However, they had a much coarser texture than I had expected; perhaps the dough was over-beaten. I look forward to trying again! Thanks!

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
YUMMY! The name is right, this is sweet! With other (bland) cornbread, I've always made honey-butter to enjoy it, but this is perfect just as it is. No need to make honey-butter, and no sticky hands while eating it. It was almost too sweet to accompany a savory chili, but it is still my new default cornbread recipe. Thanks!

Cappuccino in a Jar

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2003
Hmmm... this was difficult to rate. The chocolate drink mix (I used Nesquik) gave it a nice chocolate body, but overall it seemed kind of watery, and the spices were overpowering. I will probably make this again, though I will omit the nutmeg, and maybe add some powdered milk. I also ran it through a blender to get a nice homogenous texture. Thanks for the ideas, Cindy!

Flavored Cappuccino Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2003
Well, I followed the recipe exactly, and then put the mix through a blender to get a nice homogenous texture. When I tried it (using 2-3 teaspoons of the mix, as the recipe states), it seemed really bland and watery. I added more mix, and found that 2-3 TABLEspoons makes a delicious cup. Typo? With that correction, I enjoy this recipe, and will be making it again. Thanks, Nancy!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2003
Very good, though I only used half of the cream cheese (it was still very rich). Dried out quite a bit, so I stirred in more water after the cream cheese was melted and incorporated. I will definitely be making this again. Thanks!

French Onion Soup III

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2003
I hate to dissent, but this was not as good as I expected. (Turned out that my newleywed husband won't eat French Onion Soup, so I'm just going off of my own opinion here.) It was rather weak-bodied, and I missed the bay leaf. I might try again with bay, and different cheeses, and broil it to get that nice browned top. But then again, I may just try a different recipe. Thanks anyway.

Italian Biscotti

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2003
I am generally not a fan of anise/licorice/etc, so I was wary of this. But the anise flavor is light, so overall, these are pretty good. I got WAY more than 30 cookies out of it, though. I'm giving these are Christmas gifts, with "Flavored Cappiccino Mix" from this site. Thanks Bernie!

Classic Spanish Sangria

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2004
Very good, and such a beautiful presentation in a clear glass pitcher! I'm not much of a wine drinker, though, so I diluted it with giner ale. (And as a side note, it was not as good the next day; it seemed to have become bitter.) Thanks, Lisa!

Skillet Herbed Chicken with Mustard

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2004
This was ok. My husband loved it; I didn't. I think there were too many herbs. Since my husband liked it so much, I'll probably try it again with less tarragon.

Oven Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2004
Very, very good, though not the best roasted potatoes I've had. But I'm sure I will make this again.

Hearty Breakfast Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2004
Very good! I left out the raisins, as a personal preference; and used all-purpose flour instead of whole wheat. They have more fat than I'd like to start my day with, but I'm sure I'll make them again for convenience. Thanks, Janet!

English Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2004
Very good. Lacked the "nooks and crannies" that I'm used to, but still yummy. I'll probably use this recipe instead of buying them at the store. Thanks!

Unbelievable Chicken

Incredible! Every time I make this, I get rave reviews. I even scaled it down to 2 so that my husband and I can enjoy it alone. Thank you!

Very good! I added more salt and pepper, added some peas, and served it over mashed potatoes. Yum! Thank you!

Ground Beef Enchiladas

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2004
Pretty good, although I'm accustomed to using a tomato-based enchilada sauce. I loved using the Cream of Chicken soup though. I'll probably be combining this recipe with my own recipe using enchilada sauce. Thanks, Vanessa!

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2004
I hate to say it, but I didn't care for this much. I think I prefer plain white rice as a palate cleanser to accompany more spicy mexican dishes. Thanks anyway.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

This IS awesome! I have made it a few times, and my husband and I always love it! I usually add some carrots and celery in the slow-cooker too. THANK YOU, Brenda!

Luscious Spinach Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2004
Very, very good. I was told it's the best ever, though I thought it seemed to be missing something. It was delicious anyway, and it was all eaten very quickly. This will probably be my default recipe, though I may tinker with it. Thanks!

Oatmeal Pancakes II

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2004
Very good, but not spectacular. I used milk soured with lemon juice in place of the buttermilk, and topped them with blackberry syrup. Yum! I look forward to tweaking this, as it is our new default recipe. Thanks!
