Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2007
these are AMAZING. I just made these today for my fiance, and he loved them (ate FOUR of them at once!). I liked them too, and I"m not one who typically likes American pastries (usually too sweet). Anyways, i followed the recipe exactly (except I made just half the recipe, since it's just my fiance and me and we didn't want to gain 10 lbs :D). Also I used soy milk instead of regular milk. The result was great!! I swear, even though it does take ~3 hours and you'll have a lot of cleaning up to do in your kitchen, you won't regret it!!

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
This came out very well. I made this for my fiance this morning (he loves bananas, and he loves pancakes) and he was very thrilled. :) Note: I only used 1 banana, since that's all I had, but it still came out good (definitely could still taste the banana flavor). Also I used plain soymilk instead of regular milk, and that was ok too.

Easy Chicken Korma

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2006
this came out pretty good! i am a HUGE fan of chicken korma @ indian restaurants, and while this wasn't quite as amazing, it came close! i followed the recipe exactly except i only used 1 TBS of olive oil instead of 3, and it still came out well. along with basmati rice, this makes a great dinner!

Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2004
I thought this soup tasted good. i also gave this to my boyfriend (who HATES pumpkin) and he liked it!! The only reason i give this 4 stars instead of 5 is that the recipe turned out WAAAY to peppery! 1 tsp of pepper?? That must be a typo. I ended up having to make another batch (w/o spices) to mix with the original one, to dilute the spiciness (and even then you can still taste the pepper pretty strongly). And yeah, i think the nutmeg amount is also a typo...i only put in half a teaspoon.

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2004
I made this soup for my boyfriend since I know he loves onion soup with lots of cheese. :) I had *never* made onion soup before (i've never had it either!), but this recipe was so easy to follow, and it turned out delicious!! I followed the recipe exactly except i used 1 quart of organic beef-broth (instead of 4 cans) and i used only 2/3 stick butter. And I used 1 huge Vidalia onion (approx 4 cups) which seemed to help with the taste. Anyway, if you know anyone who loves onion soup, make this for them and they will love you forever!! :)

Cottage Cheese Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2004
Delicious! I halved this recipe, but other than that i followed the recipe to the T. The only "downside" to this was that the enchiladas turned out amorphous (basically they came apart). No matter though...really good stuff, excellent comfort-food! So great, I'm thinking of having them for *breakfast* tomorrow!!

Allison's Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2004
great recipe! i followed the recipe to a T, except using miracle whip instead of real mayonnaise. it turned out really good. though only downside is that it takes a really, really long time to cut everything up (esp. cheese). i would suggest using shredded cheese instead. oh, and this probably has millions of calories as well...but it's sooo good!! :)

Fresh Strawberry Almond Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2004
This was absolutely delicious, considering the fact that i made a wheat-free & no-sugar added version!! For the crust, i used only a few crushed (sugar-free, wheat-free spelt pecan cookies) along with shortening and some protein powder. For the filling, i followed the steps exactly except I used stevia instead of sugar. The only things i would change in this recipe would be to maybe add egg whites in the crust so that it actually holds together (the crust turned out VERY crumbly.

Butternut Bisque

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2004
amazingly great! if i could, i would have given this six stars! :) i varied the recipe a little - i only had 1 lb of squash, and i used 2 c organic vegetable broth instead. i didn't put in that much half and half, but i did add yogurt & sour cream upon serving. DE-LICIOUS!!

Carnation® Creamy Cheesy Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2004
Excellent! This came out very creamy & delicious, almost sweet (i guess due to the evaporated milk?). Anyway, I made this for my boyfriend and he must have eaten at least 2 or 3 servings! :) Very easy to make too!

Fantastic Black Bean Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2004
this was DELICIOUS!! i added some cumin and used more meat (1.3 lb)...also used 1 can black beans and 1 can kidney beans (instead of 3 cans black beans) since that is all i had. came out great anyway, since i like chili that is more meaty. :) anyway, with sour cream, this chili is *irresistible!* i ate 1 1/2 bowls, and my boyfriend ate three (and he doesn't even like chili or beans in general!!)

Easy Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2003
This came out DELICIOUS!! I ate this stuff right from a spoon, and had to stop myself from eating too much! :) it was so easy to prepare, just threw everything into the food processor and refrigerated it for a few hours. i only used 2 TBSP of tahini, and used lime juice instead (that's all i had).

Crispy Vegetable Pakoras

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2003
i just made this for lunch, and it was excellent. i scaled this recipe to 1 serving, because all i had was a little bit of cauliflower left. i didn't have coriander, turmeric or any of the other spices, so i just substituted an equal amt of curry powder instead. anyway, i was a bit skeptical because i'm not a huge fan of cauliflower, but this was GREAT..i couldn't eat it fast enough, it was delicious!!

Awesome Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2003
This gets an A+! I made this cake for my boyfriend's birthday party, and everyone who tried it loved it (and asked for a second piece!) The amazing part is, I had never baked a cake before in my entire life (i'm a 25-year-old college student) and yet i was able to make something "from scratch" that tasted so delicious! Note: I followed previous reviewer's suggestions: i only used 3/4 cup oil, less sugar (1 1/3 cup) and made half as much frosting (4 oz cheese, 1/8 c butter, and 1 cup powdered sugar). Also doubled the cinnamon (to 2 tsp) and added 1/2 tsp of cloves and nutmeg. Came out perfect! And if *I* can do it, *anyone* can!
