Honey Bun Cake

Reviewed: May 13, 2011
Very easy! I used 2 cups of white eggs, almost 1 cup of vege oil, doubled the filling, added small cut of peaches to the filling. I skipped the glaze and didn't miss it at all. Just nice with cream on side. It's so light I couldn't stop eating. My husband liked it but still prefers something else with chocolate. Thank you for the recipe! Will make this again as upside-down cakes next time.

Cottage Pudding - Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
Wonderful! Easy, fast & delicious! I made them in individual ramekins - had them warm with fresh cream. Husband raved about it and said that it could simply come from a fancy restaurant. I reduced white sugar but generous on brown sugar & butter. Will make this again and again with different fruits as it is so versatile. Thank you for the recipe.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
Super easy and super yummy! I used whole wheat flour and turned out perfect. It was a bit sticky to knead but I just keep on adding flour while kneading until it came to a nice dough (it will never be smooth with whole wheat). Also, I let it rest it rest after lining up in baking pan for 2 hours because I wanted to bake them right before we sat for dinner. Result: warm, soft rolls for dessert. Had it with choc sauce. Love this! thank you for the recipe, GD!

Mimi's Giant Whole-Wheat Banana-Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
Superb! I included 1/2cup oat as well. Mistakenly measured oil for 1/2cup, didn't use apple sauce at all, but used 1/4cup sour cream instead. Lightly mashed strawberries, and only used 1/2cup brown sugar. The result is DELIGHTFUL! Also picked up the best tip given by one of the reviewers: to only fold, not 'vigourously' stir. Thank you!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I love these cookies, and nineteen 5-yr olds in my class love them more! I'm supposed to make gingerbread men for a class activity but realized not all kids like ginger, so I made 2 batches of the dough and kept in fridge. Brought to school the next morning and the kids love free-moulding them into gingerbread man shapes (we didn't use cutters - much more fun!). These really expands (result: cute fat gingerbread men), and the taste is sooooo good. Oh, I used very soften margarine and reduced sugar to half. Perfect. Thanks for the recipe :)

Butterscotch Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
Delicious! I used only 1/4 cup of sugar and still turned out fantastic - not sweet/not bland. I didn't use any butterscotch (couldn't get any here??), so I put pieces of apple & grated coconut on top. My husband ate 4/5 of the whole pudding (he's English). Thank you, Margaret.

Balsamic-Glazed Salmon Fillets

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
Great taste! Came home at 7 one day when I promised hubby dinner at 7.30. Saw this recipe; sauteed salmon fillets in pan - when cooked, put aside. Put glaze mixture in the same pan, let boiled. Add salmon, covered with glaze, simmer till preferred consistency. Wa-lah! Superb dinner in 15 mins! Thanks for the recipe :)

Really like this recipe for it's simplicity & wonderful result. This is what i call cooking. I did add 2 potatoes & 1 more cup of water as per earlier review even when i scaled down to a half portion because it was only for me & husband. Worked out fine. Thanks for the recipe.

Absolute chili! Hubby's likes chili and always the one who cooks. But when I found this recipe and cooked it, he refused to cook anymore and let me make this all the time. I put our fav vege, yellow zucchini. Yumm. Thanks so much!

Favorite Banana Blueberry Quick Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
Moist, delicious & easy. I didn't use any pecan so I increased the oats. I don't like sugar sweet stuff so I used only 1/4 cup of sugar & 1 cup of frozen blueberries. I used sunflower oil instead of shortening, and sprinkled chopped almond on top prior to baking. Turned out great, hubby loves it! Thank you for the recipe - this one's a keeper.

Basil Pesto Bread

Yummy. I used roasted garlic pesto bought from shop, used cheddar cheese (the only cheese in house), made these and served with salad for lazy Sunday lunch. Very easy & quick. Oh, and I too lightly toasted the baguette. Turned out fab. Thanks.

My husband who likes cinnamon but does not believe in banana cakes, loves these. I didn't use any nut as I didn't have any at that time. He keeps asking me to make them again to bring to work. Thanks!

Salmon with Pineapple Tomato Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
I've made this twice as hubby & I like the taste of the salmon - it's different & refreshing. I followed the recipe exactly but I grilled the fish on griddle pan until cooked, then poured the broth on top of fish - letting it bubbling away on pan for about 2 mins and the fish to absorb some broth without getting too soggy (we don't like soggy fish). Served with cool salsa... two thumbs up! Thanks :)

Chunky Potato Soup

Simple & yummy - this is a keeper. My husband loves soups and now this is his favorite. I did stir in 1/2 clove of garlic as mentioned by earlier reviewer, it gave that cannot-wait-to-eat-this aroma. Will put in sweet corn next time (I didn't have any at the time). Thank you for the recipe.

Matar Pulao (Rice with Peas)

This is good recipe but instead of plain water I use chicken broth or stock cube dissolved in water, and I use canned peas - added once rice cooked. Stir & leave in the steaming rice till served.
