Egg-Yolk Sponge Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2015
I have made this cake twice, first as recipe states, then the second a chocolate mocha. I loved the orange citrus, it was wonderful! My husband doesn't like citrus so I made the second one subbing cocoa for some of the flour, and adding instant coffee to the boiling water when added. This is the best for using up extra yolks, I have used 12 yolks before and it's just spot on! Great for when you make homemade angel food cake- using the leftover yolks from that gives you two cakes!

Little French Fudge Cakes

Reviewed: May 30, 2015
The cinnamon was a bit overwhelming in this recipe. I think it would have been a better compliment to the rich chocolate in smaller amounts, maybe 1/4 tsp. The cakes are rich and dense though. Will make again.

Cheddar Cheese Straws

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2015
These came out wonderful, I used pepperjack cheese and did add the cayenne as my son and his friends love spicy things! I rolled them out about 1/4 inch thick and cut them with a pizza cutter into long strips. I did bake them about 8 minutes, and then did let them sit in the oven after it was turned off to get them to be a bit more crunchy.

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2015
This is wonderful BBQ sauce! It is important to let it sit overnight as it is better after the flavors all blend. I very finely minced my onions, and left them in the sauce and will continue to do it that way, no need to remove them. My family RAVED about it.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2014
You CAN use vanilla extract in this recipe, I don't know why others had trouble with that unless they used imitation vs real. I did use an extra bit of flour (1/4c) as previously mentioned just in case, and they came out just fine. If your cookie dough gets cracks in the sides as you form the depression in the center, its a bit too cold, use your fingers to seal those cracks or your jam will seep out.

Caroline's Chocolate Fudge Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2014
This frosting is delicious and fudgy. I even used melted bittersweet chocolate with great results! I would not make it without the vanilla..as a precious reviewer said -but be sure to use real vanilla extract...it is divine and well loved by everyone. This is my go to recipe, stop searching - THIS IS IT!

YES you will smell vinegar while the roast cooks, my teenage daughter on smelling vinegar but don't freak out! The results are so good! Teenage son ate 4 helpings and couldn't stop talking about it. All the rest of the family had at least 2 helpings.

Chicken Gruyere with Sauteed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2009
This was delicious! The gruyere melts beautifully, but its distinctive scent had my husband and son wondering what in the world it was! Hubs commmented that it tasted like something from a 5 star restaurant! I served it with Kashi pilaf that I cooked up with more mushrooms..it was delicious and very healthy!

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
My husband loves PB fudge, and has trouble finding kinds that taste peanut-buttery enough. This is awesome, great PB taste, wonderful texture. I used the 1 c PB, 2 c brown sugar 3 c pow sugar recommendations. For those who had trouble with butter floating to the top, or crumbly when mixing in the pow sugar, I think it's the cooking time. I timed it from the second I saw two bubbles break the surface, then exactly two minutes after I took it off the heat. After mixing in the powdered sugar it was still of pourable consistancy. It did look a bit shiny on top as it cooled ( COOL AT ROOM TEMPERATURE! ) but that went away when it cooled completely. Do not refrigerate the fudge!

Shortbread Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
These are awesome cookies. I rolled the dough into two logs and cut into rounds to bake as another person mentioned, and they turned out awesome. The dough even freezes great, just let the dough thaw a bit before slicing. Oh and we added finely chopped pecans...they turned out like pecan sandies cookies! Thanks for the great recipe!!

Easy Apple Crisp with Honey

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
It was awesome, my family of 5 ate the whole thing in one night! We used apples that stayed a bit crunchy for the 25 minute baking time, and I doubled the topping ingredients using 1 stick of unsalted butter which yielded plenty of crunchy topping. The honey was a very nice addition!!

Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
Wow this is a really good cake! I was looking for one that didn't use so many eggs, and this is wonderful. For those of you who thought it was dense, it is supposed to be dense..pound cake is! I doubled the recipe and baked in a bundt pan as some recommended, and it was wonderful. It rose to about level with the pan top, developed a beautiful rich golden crisp outer crust and tender inside. I worried as it took at least 75 minutes, and I covered the top that last 15 with foil to prevent excess browning.in fact I shut off the convection oven and left it in there for another 15 minutes and then it was done perfect. We had it with fresh picked strawberries and whipped cream! YUM. My husband LOVES it. Especially the crunchy outer crust!

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2007
Ok, I am a fresh mushroom fan...for other fresh mushroom fans, I used 1/2 whole baby portabello and 1/2 regular mushrooms sauteed with sweet yellow onions. I also used Cabernet Sauvignon wine...Oh my goodness awesome..better than white with the beef in my opinion..AWESOME recipe! We all loved it!

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2007
YUM! This is awesome zucchini bread. I had to do a few substitutions, as I was low on oil and only had 2 eggs. I had about 1/2 cup oil. So, I added about 1 cup of mayonnaise to the wet ingredients and about 1/4 cup milk. I also used 1/2 whole wheat flour. For nuts we used fresh pecans as it is pecan season here in the south. Delicious. My family loved it, even my husband who was not keen on the idea of it.

Naan

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2006
Its easy to make this bread in a bread machine, just use the dough cycle, and it will have it's first rise in there. I added the garlic before it finished kneading. This made for only 1 rise after forming the balls. WONDERFUL!

Chocolate Icing

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2004
This was excellent! I did as a few of the others did and added 1/2 c semisweet choc chips to the butter and brown sugar mixture (after the sugar melts and you add the milk) and added an additional 1 T cocoa. FYI, icing is best for brownies, cookies and SHEET cakes, as was stated by the submitter of the recipe, for layer cakes, frostings are better. However if you are looking for a true icing that will wow the most sage chocolate fan...this one is IT!

This is my favorite cornbread recipe. The latest twist I've tried was using Vanilla Spice eggnog instead of milk (same quantity)-- It was WONDERFUL!
